I’ve never been much of a hockey guy, but I’ve been trying to get more into the sport. As a basketball guy my whole life, the seasons overlap, so I never really paid much attention to hockey.
I’ve been looking for a team to support for a while. Since Baltimore doesn’t have an NHL team, I’ve decided to throw my support behind the Philadelphia Flyers @NHLFlyers
It certainly doesn’t hurt that they wear the same orange and black color scheme as my beloved Baltimore Orioles @Orioles
That said, this Baltimore guy hasn’t forgotten all the lip I’ve taken from Philly fans at Phillies and Eagles games over the years. But hockey seems like a good place to start a new chapter.
Go Flyers. 🏒🟠⚫️ #LetsGoFlyers #BirdlandToBroadStreet
Maryland is my former home state, the place where I was born and raised. Seeing reports like this is disappointing, but not surprising.
When policymakers prioritize ideology over economic growth, public safety, and educational excellence, the consequences eventually show up in the numbers. A state cannot thrive if it drives away families, businesses, and taxpayers.
For years, Maryland has struggled with high taxes, rising concerns about crime, and an education system that too often seems focused on protecting political interests rather than empowering teachers and helping students succeed. At the same time, many residents are finding greater opportunity, affordability, and quality of life elsewhere like Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, etc.
The formula for a thriving state isn’t complicated: safe communities, strong schools, lower taxes, economic opportunity, and a family friendly environment. States that embrace those principles tend to attract people, while states that move away from them often see residents leave.
Unfortunately, Maryland is not alone. States such as New Jersey, Delaware, and New York have faced similar challenges as families and businesses vote with their feet.
LEAVING Maryland.
Student enrollment in Baltimore County schools is now estimated to plummet over the next 10 years. Why? Because families are leaving Maryland.
This family is going to Georgia. Listen to their reasons why.
“The flag was still there.”
Long before it flew at ballgames and front porches across America, the flag flying over Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine became a symbol of survival during the War of 1812.
After enduring hours of British bombardment, the fort’s enormous flag remained standing at sunrise, inspiring “The Star-Spangled Banner.”
This Flag Day, we honor the history, sacrifice, and stories behind the stars and stripes. 🇺🇸

“In other words, over more than half a century during which the NEA and AFT have collectively spent billions of dollars, teachers’ real wages have barely moved,” the report states.” According to the report, the unions, with a combined 4.7 million members, “operate as large-scale political and funding institutions with limited transparency and unattenuated accountability to their members.””

Can we ever just wish someone well? Her husband has bone cancer. Always has to have a political and personal dig at someone — completely discredits the “well wishes” and thoughts. Another reason why congress has a 9% approval rating.
My thoughts go out to Tulsi Gabbard and her family, as her husband battles this serious health problem. I hope and pray that he makes a speedy and full recovery.
While the circumstances around her departure are deserving of our sympathy, let’s be clear: Tulsi Gabbard’s only positive contribution to our nation's national security is her resignation.
She politicized intelligence. She dismantled critical agencies keeping Americans safe. She weaponized the IC to pursue baseless election fraud claims. And more.
We must ensure that her tenure — marked by a devotion to the person of the president and not to the security of the country — represents a terrible exception at DNI and not the new normal.
“The report found that of the NEA’s $450 million annual disbursement budget from fiscal year 2025, less than 10 percent was spent on activities directly representing the union’s constituents.”

This is a more personal post, but I think we could all use a little more humanity and perspective sometimes.
Happy heavenly 73rd birthday, Dad.
From today through my birthday next month is always a reflective time for me, as it marks the anniversary of losing my Dad. It’s hard to believe it’s been 17 years since he passed away.
Last week at Disney was a true full circle moment — standing there with my 3 kids (while my youngest decided to completely pass out in the stroller 😂) in the same place my Dad once stood with his 3 kids nearly 30 years ago. Moments like that hit differently.
It makes me sad that he never got the chance to meet his grandkids, and that I didn’t get more time to learn from him before having to figure so much out on my own. But more than anything, I’m grateful for the 18 years we did have together and for the values, lessons, and work ethic he passed down to me.
Love you always, Dad.
Full circle moment today.
We brought our kids to our alma mater, @WidenerUniv, for the first time and snapped some photos in front of the buildings where we spent so many long hours — Political Science for me and Nursing for my wife. Walking those same paths again brought back so many memories.
What a fun little day and such a special reminder of where our journey together really began.
After a report from Baltimore City's inspector general found the mayor's office spent more than $800K on food and events from July 2022 - Nov. 2025, we questioned Mayor Scott on the use of tax dollars.
Nothing was illegal, he reiterated. I asked him if it's appropriate.
Amazing how the first act of some leaders is to look for a scapegoat instead of a strategy. New Jersey has had one-party dominance for years — and somehow it’s always someone else’s fault. DC doesn’t run Trenton. That’s why we elect a Governor and Legislature. Accountability isn’t a federal program.
🚨 NEW: Gov. Mikie Sherrill Says New Jersey is Facing a $3 BILLION ‘Structural Deficit’
“It could mean credit downgrades and tax hikes, causing real pain to New Jerseyans … Trump is only making things worse. We have to stand on our own two feet and make some tough choices.”
My @ProjectRepat blanket just arrived, and it brings back so many memories from my college days that helped shaped who I am today. It even includes my late father’s Sigma Pi fraternity shirt from his #UMD days, so I’ll always have a piece of him with me. #ΘΧ#ΣΠ#Widener #GordonCollege
The Penn State Faculty Alliance (PSFA), affiliated with SEIU Local 668, has seta goal to unionize 6,000 faculty members across the Penn State campuses.
Union leaders often frame these efforts as “giving educators a voice,” but in reality, joining a bargaining unit will replace direct advocacy with union bureaucracy—making negotiations a one-size-fits-all band aid on diverse, individual needs.
A blanket contract negotiated by SEIU Local 668 risks drowning out individual voices rather than strengthening them.
