HURIA participated in validation of a new Data Governance Toolkit by @AmnestyKenya@dpo360_africa to help CSOs operationalize Kenya's Data Protection Act (2019).
Proud to stand as a data protection champion.

Too often, men are told to stay silent about their struggles. But mental health is a human right, and silence should never be expected.
This June, let's open the conversation. Check on the men in your life.
Listen without judgment.
Speak without shame.

As civic space shrinks, HURIA is expanding its partnerships.
Yesterday, we hosted the Executive Director and a lawyer from the @RCKKenya of Kenya (RCK)
From @DCAF_Geneva to @amnestynl to RCK, HURIA builds coalitions because rights work cannot survive in silos.

A community in Kwale called us; 4,000 people had run out of doors to knock. Mbuguni Phase 2, Mtengwa village. What they told us: "We were allocated land. The allocation was compromised. We won in court. The order was ignored. Now we are being threatened to sell and leave."
π #EidAlAdha Mubarak to all Muslims across the world!
The spirit of Ibrahim's sacrifice, devotion, courage, and giving to those in need is at the heart of what we stand for every day.
May your Eid be blessed, your prayers answered, and your sacrifices rewarded.

π Happy Labour Day Kenya! π°πͺ
To every worker, formal or informal, celebrated or overlooked:
Your labour built this nation.
Your rights are worth fighting for.
Your dignity is non-negotiable.

HURIA visited Chifuduni on 23rd April 2026.
We walked the land. We heard the community. We saw the beacons. We stood on the riverbank.
We are formally engaging @NemaKenya, WRMA, the County Government, & the company.
We will publish every response
In Chifuduni, Kwale County, a company is harvesting sand from 4km of river running through community land.
60β80 lorries a day. For two years.
There is no written agreement with landowners.
There is no EIA shared with the community.
This is what HURIA found on the ground π
The environmental risks are already visible:
River widening and deepening excavation, flooding threat to homes, farms, & crops, road destruction from 60-80 heavy trucks daily, safety risk to children at Mlungunipa Pri. School
500 people affected.
No mitigation plan communicated.
βοΈ On this Good Friday, HURIA warmly wishes our Christian brothers and sisters peace, reflection, and hope.
#Humandignity, #justice, and #compassion are values that unite us across all faiths.
Wishing all who observe this sacred day God's blessings. ποΈ

That sign at today's @IEBCKenya Mombasa ECVR launch reads: "PEOPLE WITH SPECIAL INTEREST."
Seated at the front. Visible. Counted.
This is what #inclusive#democracy looks like when it stops being a promise and becomes a practice. π§΅π

4,000 new voters in 2 days. That's what happens when democracy stops waiting for citizens to come to it and goes to them instead.
HURIA was there. This is what we've advocated for.
27 days left, Kenya. π³οΈ

A family reported a son missing.
Police: no record.
Court: no mechanism.
The law: no name for what happened.
HURIA documented it. Then 39 more times until Parliament had to listen.
#CivicSpace is shrinking. Our evidence is not.
10 years, 40+ reports β https://t.co/EFKGTgezOO
HURIA was on the ground as @IEBCKenya launched its national Enhanced Continuous Voter Registration (ECVR) right in Shimoni, Kwale County, home to Kenya's most historically marginalised coastal communities.
A moment that belongs to the people.

#Kenya#Senate is reviewing the Mining (Amendment) Bill, 202 which determines how royalties from minerals on YOUR land are shared.
Our question: Is your community actually benefiting from the minerals being taken from your land, or just watching?
