2025 Sports in Kansas 8-Man Division II Defensive Player of the Year & 8M-6M Lineman of the Year
Kyle Huser, Victoria, Sr. NG
Physical, disciplined, and dominant on both sides of the ball, Victoria senior Kyle Huser is the 2025 Sports in Kansas 8-Man Division II Defensive Player of the Year and the 8M & 6M Lineman of the Year, recognized as the best two-way lineman in Kansas small-school football.
At 6’3 and 270 pounds, Huser towered over competition and played with size and strength rarely seen across the board in 8-man football. He is one of only a handful of players in the classification with that frame, and none of them bring his resume or consistent production. With his combination of physicality, balance, and power, it is widely believed he would have been successful in any classification in Kansas, no matter the level of competition.
He dominated as a center on offense and a nose guard on defense, overwhelming opponents with leverage, placement, and strength. Huser finished 2025 with 29 tackles, 6 sacks, and 4 tackles for loss, while being double-teamed on nearly every snap and freeing teammates to make plays, a trait that defines elite interior linemen. 8M-II football simply ran away from Huser and the input from coaches to support that was overwhelming.
Across his career, he produced 120 tackles, 17 tackles for loss, and 12 sacks, becoming one of the most decorated linemen in the small-school ranks for Doug Oberle. He is a three-time Sports in Kansas First-Team All 8-Man selection, and a rare multi-year recipient of Central Prairie League Offensive Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, First-Team offensive lineman, and First-Team defensive lineman, honors almost never achieved by a lineman of any era.
Huser helped lead Victoria to back-to-back sub-state championships and consecutive trips to the 8-Man Division II state title game. We at Sports in Kansas can proudly say he is not only a dominant player on film, but also a great kid we have gotten to know through camps and combines over the years, representing his school and community with character and humility.
Away from the field, he embodies small-town Kansas values by prioritizing family, hard work, and respect. His favorite meal is steak and potatoes, he roots for the Chiefs and Royals, and his biggest role model is his dad. He also brings a surprising personal detail most fans would never expect: he did not learn how to ride a bike until age 18.
Huser is currently uncommitted, holding offers from Fort Hays State, Washburn, Butler, Dodge City, Garden City, Friends, and Bethany, with more interest still developing.
Simply put, the best two-way lineman in 8-man football, and a player built to succeed in any classification. Your 2025 Sports in Kansas 8-Man Division II Defensive Player of the Year and 8M & 6M Lineman of the Year, Kyle Huser, Victoria. #sportsinkansas
