Countries with largest PPP GDPs. Latest (Oct 2026 IMF) numbers. India’s number has gone up due to stronger growth. This will further get revised next year when ICP data comes out - which I expect to slightly raise India GDP PPP. Either way, on track to surpass US within a decade.
🚨 India’s economic growth deserves greater recognition, says Korean economist Kyunghoon Kim.
🇮🇳 India’s GDP has grown from just over $1 trillion in 2007 to nearly $4 trillion today.
> The economy recorded an average annual growth of 7.83% during 2021–2025, its second-highest five-year average since 1960.
> Poverty has also declined significantly over the past two decades.
Kim said India’s economic catch-up, particularly over the past decade, deserves to be celebrated, even as the country continues to face challenges.
