Ms. Ung’s @HWDSBSummerCamp group made S’mores in their solar ovens today. Will they work? Love how she created reflection questions to dig deeper and think more. Also made sure everyone could eat the S’mores with Halal marshmallows and nut-free ingredients. ❤️

Final day of @HWDSBSummerCamp Queen Mary and we ended with a Water Day! Thanks for Mr. G’s group for planning and creating these fun games to practice literacy and numeracy!

Shout out to Ms. Perks for planning this amazing camp wide scavenger hunt. The whole camp participated in groups to solve clues to practice the literacy and math skills learned during camp. @HWDSBSummerCamp Queen Mary

I wish that I recorded the reaction when Ms. Ung, an @HWDSBSummerCamp instructor, shared how she bought Halal marshmallows for S’mores. Kids broke out in cheers. This one instructor decision brought such joy, & allowed for inclusion for all! ❤️

Ms. Ung shared the writing that her students did throughout the week, which aligned with #ufli learning, class inquiries, and modelled lessons. Love how students chose to apply their learning from previous weeks into new learning opportunities.❤️ cc @HWDSBSummerCamp

Could a Q-Chart extend to some questions and a writing opportunity? This could then extend to even more authentic reading and writing opportunities, as was true with these kinds of signs. ❤️❤️❤️ Excited to see where this goes next!

Love the opportunity to connect with @HWDSBSummerCamp instructors during class. In Ms. Ung’s group, students created this lake for fishing as part of a camping experience. What if she added in some plastic and garbage tomorrow?

Loved walking into @ms_wasitis’ @HWDSBSummerCamp class today. Opportunities to read with students based on targeted #ufli lessons, while @ms_wasitis worked with a small group. ❤️❤️❤️ Apparently we moved to some math with ages too! 😂

Ms. Cote shares with us about different ways to use books. From talking about pictures to build vocabulary to reading words and discussing what happened in the book, we would love to hear more about what you do. ❤️

We had so much fun playing some of the math games @teach_mcc had put together from her “Games with a Purpose” session! Students definitely grew in confidence after a few rounds. Love engaging with kids this way!

I loved all of the math talk as I walked by an @HWDSBSummerCamp group with @missnic2 today. She even left the games for instructors to continue tomorrow. Working alongside some #focusonyouth students allowed for more targeted math instruction. ❤️

More kids got involved as they thought of other food items to order. I wonder if bringing in some different paper choices for little signs might inspire even more writing and reading of words, even as I walk away. ❤️ cc @HWDSBSummerCamp
