World Fisheries Day arrives every year as an unquiet reminder that fisheries is not just about fishes but about people and places, about ecology and culture, place-based knowledge and relationalities - and how these are inextricably embedded into each other.

Today, 8th November, is Aaron Swartz's birthday. On that occasion, re-upping my old posts where I shared about a robust anti-paywall knowledge-sharing community that we have been running for more than four years! An endeavor that has drawn inspiration from Aaron Swartz.

Thanks @TanzilShafique for making it possible to travel to Sheffield to attend the symposium in-person. Wish we could have more time to continue the conversations! Nevertheless, this surely provides the much-needed impetus to deepen further engagements with pluriversal thinking.
It was such an exciting day, with absolutely intriguing conversations including the fascinating keynote lecture by @SavranskyMartin & a set of interesting presentations in the ECRs roundtable! Many thanks @TanzilShafique for putting together this symposium on climate pluriverse.

Very few people have acknowledged the Shompen. A Letter to the President of India: Who will stand up for 229 Shompens (PVTG) and 27,168 Nicobarese in Great Nicobar Island, whose interests stand ignored by a “Mega Infra Project”? https://t.co/smZoDwPOvg via @countercurrents

"Let there be no doubt that the 2024 vote is also a vote against Modi’s in-your-face crony capitalism. For ten years, the prime minister had kept the country in thrall of something called 'vikas' & ensured that the corporate sector remained solidly in his corner. That model ..."
