Jabal al-Druze was home to about 50,000 Druze.
Druze made 85% of the population. 14% were Christians

Creation:
On May 1, 1921, under the French Mandate for Syria, a separate autonomous state called the State of Jabal Druze was formed in the mountainous region of southern Syria

The Great Syrian Revolt (1925):
Sultan Pasha al-Atrash was a prominent Druze leader who commanded the Great Syrian Revolt against the French.
Sultan Pasha al-Atrash opposed the creation of the Druze State.
He advocated for a unified Syria.

Franco-Syrian Treaty of 1936
Jabal Druze State officially ceased to exist in 1936.
After annexation, the central Damascus government appointed Nasib al-Bakri as governor of Jabal al-Druze. This decision deeply alienated the local Druze population

Yigal Allon Plan:
Yigal Allon proposed the creation of an independent Druze state in the aftermath of the 1967 Six-Day War.
This included the The Golan Heights & the mountainous region in southern Syria, centered around the city of As-Suwayda.
