Just finished hymn tune #73, RISING HOPE. Written for a text by a youth, Elijah Leigeber, who came to my sectional at the Higher Things conference this year. He stayed, showed me his poetry, and received commendations and an offer of new tunes. He's a rising voice to know of.
I once used Finale for music notation. Switched to Dorico when Finale deplatformed. It's been a growing and humbling experience to say the least.
Had a tech situation for the last few days. But now it's working right and I can get back to composition.
@RevIsaacWirtz Since I am a believer, I am also predestined. Therefore, looking back, if I had been born elsewhere, God would have sent a missionary at the very least.
@RevIsaacWirtz The fruit eating wasn't the big problem. It was the treason that overthrew God's dominion and attempted for a man-made rebellion with himself as lord over all.
And the passing of this down shouldn't surprise anyone who's ever heard of genetics.
Technically, I'm going to be doing tune #74 soon after for the same writer. Keep your eyes peeled for the announcements - as soon as I can get my music software program working again.
An idea for tune #73. The text was sent to me by a youth who attended my sectional at HT on new Lutheran hymns since LSB and stayed after to talk. Saw his hymns and poems. Elijah Leigeber will be a gift for the Church.
@Tim_Sandborn21 The numbers in Revelation are symbolic.
144,000 - 12 x 12 x 10 x 10 x 10
12 = number of the Church, number of the O.T. sons of Jacob / Israel
10 = perfect number (has all numerals beneath)
3 '10s' = 3 is given for the number of God (Father, Son and Holy Spirit)
I realize I have books on my shelf I haven't read.
Nonetheless, I just added 4 more books to my book wishlist.
(Anyone wishing to contribute to my book fund, just contact me). 🙂
@SpeciesofAUS I don't like it when anyone but my family, close friends, or other pastors call me by my first name. Or Pastor Rob. It would be like me calling my dad "Father Ted." It's just not respectful.
I even call pastors who go by their first name "Pastor (last name)" to their people.
Now that July 4 is here and it's been a long week away at HT, plus it's my day off, I'm considering rewriting the sermon I wrote and making one more including our country's anniversary.
@tapanisimojoki Trust not in princes, they are but mortal.
Earthborn they are and soon decay.
Vain is their council at life's last portal,
When the dark grave doth claim its prey.
Since mortals can no help afford,
Trust ye in Christ our God and Lord.
Alleluia, alleluia. (see LSB 797:2).
