Really proud of @LaljiLukas & his Lynden teammates today. @wiaawa State champions in the 4x100m relay (41.80 - school record). He also took home silver in the 200m. @Nike Nationals coming up, June 20-21
I got my first taste of High School Football. I want to thank my coaches and my teammates for their support. I know big things are coming for our program.
In 1984 Alex Reid re-started the football program at Burnaby Central Secondary. I played on that first team. It changed my life. I was hooked, and from that day the sport never left my life, nor did Coach Reid. I started coaching in 1987, while I was still playing Jr football, because I didn’t want to lose his influence on me. We coached together until 1998, when he retired from teaching.
We remained close & when a group of us started the @HyackFootball program & soon after Central folded theirs, I wanted him to know the new program was a part of his legacy. I impacted over 1000 kids lives because he impacted mine.
Today football is a huge part of my son’s life and he’s being recruited by universities. Does that happen if coach Reid didn’t start the program in ‘84? He watched my son play and we remained close until the end. The end came last night. His final years were impacted by Alzheimer’s & dementia. Even then he thought he was still coaching. He deserved better. I’ll miss him and I thank him. For everything. #RIPCoach 💔🙏🏽🪽
Enjoyed having @LaljiLukas be a part of @HYPEWhatcom this 7on7 season. JR poured his heart & soul into this talented group of local kids. 4-1 today, but more importantly they got better all spring & will be able to take those reps into the season that matters!
And @LaljiLukas follows it up with a 11.02 in the 100m & 22.37 in the 200m in today’s finals. Not sure how many sophomores qualified for state in 3 events!🎉💪🏽
