Just opened a new, important role! We're now focusing heavily on new content and features, and combat + progression sit right at the heart of it: weapons, enemies, bosses, itemization, a deep skill system, and how it all connects.
This one needs extensive experience! You'd join the core design team and work closely with the rest of us to shape combat and progression, keeping them true to the vision.

Hytale Shared Source - Our Plan:
We're releasing the full server source, the protocol, and all Hytale assets, even the stuff that never shipped! It will be on GitHub, with access modeled after Epic's Unreal Engine source: a valid game license and accepting the program terms will get you an invite to our GitHub org, where you can view, clone, and download the repo.
Updates ship with every release and pre-release. You'll see a branch for each, pushed automatically through our CI/CD pipeline. We strip individual commits and author data for two reasons: to protect the team's privacy, and to keep the constant churn of our trunk-based workflow out of the public history. Next up, we'll publish the sources jar to Maven so you can browse the code right inside your IDE.
On contributions: we won't accept PRs yet, but there's a path to opening them up. Honestly, we don't have the capacity to review them without tanking our own productivity, and in the age of AI we'd drown in volume. It's not that the contributions are bad. It's the sheer number.
We've spent years in open source, and nothing kills the passion faster than PRs that sit unanswered. That's how a repo turns toxic, and we won't do that to you. Keeping it semi-public and license-gated also helps us moderate and reduce spam access and keep our lawyer happy while still giving the community the ability to see and use the code with Hytale.
Here's the plan: we'll start with an invite-only contributor model for select community members. As that proves out, we'll promote the trusted ones to maintainers who can push PRs to the team. Once we have maintainers we trust, we'll open contributions to everyone, alongside a code of conduct.
The legal framework was the hard part. We wanted to give you maximum freedom inside the Hytale ecosystem while stopping competitors from copy-pasting our code.
It took far longer than it should have, but we're glad to ship it. This pulls the community out of the decompilation gray zone, for both the developer experience and the legal side.

ICYMI: Hytale’s Update 5 is out!
We want to shine a spotlight on our new Trigger Volume Tool which allows you to place persistent 3D volumes that trigger configurable effects when conditions are met.
Think of these 3D volumes as tripwires that are completely invisible to the player. However, when something happens inside of it (a player walks into it, a creature walks out, a block is placed, an arrow is shot, etc.) it will react by running a desired effect.

Two roles posted today, with multiple openings for each: World Designer and NPC Developer!
World Designers will be one of the biggest teams at Hytale. We're tripling down on what Adventure mode's worlds can become, starting with Orbis and World Gen 2. Hybrid role: level designers, environment artists, or people who do both.
NPC Developer is a smaller team, but it's the one that decides whether the world feels alive. Creature behavior, combat, boss fights, and the patterns that make Hytale react. Both technical designers and developers are welcome.

As you can see from the clip, there is full mouse-controlled rotation, tilt, zoom, and pan. It can also be configured for custom server UIs!

Hey everyone, we want to share an update on support and account security.
First, we know that support response times haven't been where they should be. The response to launch was massive and far exceeded what we anticipated, which meant our existing support workflows and tooling weren't built to handle that kind of volume.
Over the last month, we've invested heavily in new tooling and processes to meet the demand, and our support team is now equipped to action requests much faster. We're actively working through the backlog, so if you're still waiting to hear back from us, we haven't forgotten about you, your ticket is in the queue and we're on it.
On account security specifically, we've been investigating reports of compromised accounts and in the vast majority of cases, we were able to identify the cause: It has been other malicious software that was installed unknowingly by the player.
Please be mindful of what you install and run on your device. We'd also strongly encourage everyone to enable authenticator based multi-factor authentication on your account for an extra layer of protection, even if your password is compromised, MFA can help keep your account safe.
We recommend using an SSO sign in (Google, Discord, etc) and authenticator based MFA, this will give your account a higher level of security. This also allows you to disable password authentication on your account. If you must use email + password, make sure your Hytale account has a strong and unique password that you're not using anywhere else.
Password reuse is one of the most common ways accounts get compromised across services. Just as importantly, avoid passwords that are minor variations of ones you use elsewhere. These patterns are easy to guess once one version is known, a password manager is a great way to generate and store truly unique passwords for each service without having to remember them all.

Bring life to Hytale!
Create or update NPCs - critters, enemies, or boss fights - with behaviors players will remember. Push the asset configuration system to its limits.
Just like our WorldGen V2 tech, no coding knowledge is required!
As a fun example, you could use our Combat Action Evaluator to build an NPC party of adventurers that can show teamwork similar to players (with a healer, DPS, tank, etc.).
It's going to be amazing to see what everyone creates with these tools!

Build a biome, region, or zone with a clear theme, strong landmarks, and great exploration from the ground.
📢 Fun fact: You don't need any coding knowledge to create content or modify world gen in Hytale, as V2 can be edited directly within our visual node editor!
Creators can get started with just a few tutorials (linked in the reply-tweet!) and a bit of practice.
