Greetings, fellow Nigerians. I am writing on behalf of many Nigerians who have been left stranded since the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), the organization in charge of Nigeria's NIN database, began its maintenance. As someone with a background in technology, I understand the importance of maintenance, which often leads effectiveness and good performance of there system.

However, the issue we're facing with NIMC is significant. Their database controls almost all essential services in Nigeria, including GSM service providers (MTN NG, GloWorld, Airtel Nigeria, 9mobileng), the banking system, immigration, driver's licenses, and numerous other major companies and organizations that rely on NIN for validation and registration.

This service has been down for weeks, and there has been no official statement from NIMC apologizing for the inconvenience caused to many Nigerians, nor has there been an estimated time for when the maintenance will be fully completed. I have personally lost millions of naira because I couldn't retrieve my SIM card yesterday. I can only imagine how many other Nigerians are experiencing similar challenges.

I urge Nigerians to tag @nimc_ng to encourage them to address their system and restore services as soon as possible. In the event of future maintenance, it is crucial that they communicate with the public and provide an estimated time for the maintenance .
