I think at least part, if not most-of the reason for the smash during the Warsh speech, is to create the perception that Warsh’s statements move markets. Imagine an alternate timeline where Warsh talks about tightening and gold goes up! That would be unacceptable. Warsh would look impotent. Gold HAD to go down to signal Warsh’s influence. You might say it was just the algorithms getting triggered by key words. Maybe. But if it’s that important to maintain Warsh credibility, if you buy my thesis, would you take a chance on algorithms you don’t control not cooperating with the outcome you want? You (insiders) would ensure, through whatever mechanism, that they got the outcome that they NEEDED. And continued suppression of the gold price might just be the bonus. Btw, no Central Bank outside of the G7 gives a shit about what Warsh says. They were likely selling dollars and buying physical gold with both hands on Friday.

Your framing of “trader’s just don’t understand” is at best incomplete, and more accurately, just wrong. You’ve framed it this way for as long as I can remember. Gold is managed/manipulated. That’s the bullion banks JOB. It’s not a misinterpretation of data. Gold trading is still subject to long term pressure from the physical markets, but heavily managed in the short term.

IMO she doesn’t believe her testimony claims of mRNA are safe and effective. She nervously laughed in one clip that I saw while affirming that. That laugh IMO is textbook cognitive dissonance. When someone affirms "safe and effective" with a dismissive laugh, it's not confidence, it's an unconscious pressure release. She knows the question can’t be answered simply, knows the data is not supportive of a claim of safety, and the laugh functions as an internal and externally projected emotional bridge between what’s required of her in that moment and reality. If the evidence isn’t controversial, you don't need the laugh. You just say it. She’s displaying institutional loyalty, not scientific rigor, and to me that laugh indicates that she knows the truth.

His skin may have less damage, but he looks unhealthy, even repulsive to my eye. He’s taking an input, the sun, which the design of human biology presumes exposure everyday, and he’s rejecting it. Human biology also presumes the presence of melanin. It has a broad and crucial role, and Johnson and his team of doctors have deemed it unimportant. In a way it’s great that he’s making these mistakes so publicly. His actions (and their outcomes) will help to inform what not to do if you want to be a healthy human.

I like it. I might add, after number 1, “a modern lifestyle, including seed oils, and a substantial lack of sunlight increase the risk of melanoma” Supportable given the data on office workers vs outdoor workers. Not all office workers are getting sunburned on vacation, and lots of people getting melanoma on their butts, with near zero lifetime sun exposure there!

LONGi's 21 GW copper solar line is a strategic bluff IMO, not a genuine engineering bet. Copper oxidizes (killing conductivity at the contact interface), poisons silicon, and migrates under voltage—all of which can lead to very premature or even sudden failure—you can't engineer around the periodic table. After massive upfront and ongoing development costs, plus mountains of warranty claims when field performance degrades years ahead of schedule, do the economics actually work? Sure, copper cells will probably perform fine off the production line. Longevity under real outdoor conditions is the question—and the industry has zero multi-year field data. What if they took an optimization approach instead: finer grid lines, reduced silver per cell, or the thin-film route (First Solar's CdTe eliminates silver entirely)? That's the smarter play—unless the goal isn't substitution. The real play? Publicly project a viable path toward silver substitution, which would further suppress silver prices, force rivals into a costly R&D arms race, and accumulate physical silver before Samsung's solid-state batteries, humanoid robots, and broad electrification collide with inelastic supply and steadily depleting above-ground stocks. The Capex is theater. The obvious game theory advantages are probably the point.
