It is Teacher’s Day today in Taiwan and this is the first time that I received several messages from former students to wish me a happy teachers day. :) and, spending all day writing reference letters for my students is a perfect activity to celebrate this day.

2025/7/8 master’s students #3 and #4 defended today! Both did very well today and I’m proud of what they have accomplished in the last two years. It has been almost 3 years since I became an assistant professor (and I grew so many white hairs since).

2025/1/7. The first two master’s students in my lab passed their defenses today. Unfortunately, we have been dealing with a college-wide, unexpected power outage since Sunday, so I am a little too exhausted to fully enjoy this.

Yu-Ting Lin has always been a female her entire life. Her Taiwan ID number starts with a “2”, which indicates her sex at birth (i personally do not like this but). Please stop the nonsense.

Lab fun: This week we welcomed two new members of the laboratory by having the first lab arm wrestling competition. (Last week we had a blind tasting for Sprite original vs Sprite Zero but I was the only one to get it right…)
