Many people get stuck in this question.

Why did this happen to me?

You replay the conversation.
Analyze their words.
Question their motives.
Search for what you did wrong.
Build a case for why you didn't deserve it.

You keep chasing the snake that bit you.

But the snake isn't the problem anymore.

The poison is.

Understanding can help. But endlessly searching for an explanation can keep the wound open.

You may never get an apology.
You may never understand their motives.
You may never get a satisfying answer.

And you don't need one to heal.

At some point, stop asking “Why did they hurt me?”

Start asking:
“What do I need to do to heal?”

Stop chasing the snake.
Treat the wound.

A bubble is a globule of one substance inside another, usually gas in a liquid. Due to the Marangoni effect, the bubbles can remain intact once they reach the surface of the substance.

Frequently, when we carry out various activities, we produce bubbles. Bubbles are formed because air or steam is enclosed within a liquid and this is achieved, for example, by shaking a mixture of soap with water.

If we use a wire of any shape: triangular, square, hexagonal, round, spherical bubbles will always form. But why always spheres? The answer is given by the Law of Least Effort.

According to this law, processes in nature are carried out in such a way that there is always a minimum of some physical quantity. This minimum can be presented in energy, in distance, in quantity of movement, in time. For example, when you drop a marble placed on the edge of a saucepan with a round bottom, the marble will move from one side to the other, but eventually it will stop in the center, which is precisely the place where it has the least energy. Another example occurs when the water runs down a drain. As the water goes down, it forms a whirlpool, since in this way the air inside the tube can easily escape allowing the water to enter. In this case, the time the water drops is the minimum.

Thus, soap bubbles take a spherical shape because the spheres have the smallest surface area for the amount of air enclosed within the bubble, also minimizing the energy that this surface has.

The drops of water that fall when it rains tend to form spheres, because by taking that shape their energy is minimized and the external surface of the drop is minimized. If we had the fortune to be on a satellite orbiting the Earth and therefore be with near zero gravity, then we would observe that the water droplets would float like spheres inside the spacecraft, in a similar way to how soap bubbles do. in the air.

This behavior has to do with the surface tension and cohesion force in a liquid.

Surface tension is the force exerted on the surface of a liquid, similar to the force that stretches a blanket on a hoop. This tension is what allows some insects to walk on the surface of the water or that we can deposit a steely razor on the water, without the razor sinking despite its greater density.

On the other hand, the cohesion force in a liquid is an attractive force between its molecules that tends to hold them together. For example, alcohol has a lower cohesion force between its molecules than water. For this reason, alcohol volatilizes faster than water.

When a drop of water forms, both the cohesion force and the surface tension act. While the cohesive force holds the molecules of the liquid in the drop together, the surface tension causes it to take on a spherical shape, minimizing the surface area that encloses the drop.

If we deposit drops of alcohol and oil on glass, we will notice that the drop of alcohol is crushed more than the drop of oil, because the cohesion force and the surface tension of the oil are greater than in alcohol.

One application of this occurs when we wash clothes. It turns out that the surface tension of water decreases when mixed with detergent. This property is what allows better cleaning of clothes, because by reducing the surface tension of the water, it penetrates better into the fibers of the fabrics and the chemicals that these detergents contain act to remove the dirt from them and thus clean the clothes.
