@BBCNews As a Burnley resident, these stories always felt exploitative and never sat right with me. Clearly the journalists giving these stories a platform weren't as discerning...or just knew they'd make good coverage.
@BBCNews The real issue here is with the media for lapping up stories like this. If exploiting the poor wasn't so lucrative, people wouldn't do it. There's clearly demand for it and people can't seem to get enough of the desperate and destitute.
