I believe Nigeria cannot achieve true development without strong Local Governments.
For too long, the grassroots — where real people live — has been ignored
Over the coming weeks, I’ll be sharing thoughts on why #AutonomyForLocalGovt is urgent for democracy, security & progress
2 men. Same exile, democracy struggle, mentor & billionaire friend.1 spent 25 yrs building political power.1 spent 25 yrs photographing power. Today both are in politics.1 became President.1 is still trying to find his footing.Lesson: Access to greatness is nt D same as building it
History is interesting.
Two men once walked the same road — exile, the pro-democracy struggle, and loyalty to the same legendary mentor.
They both knew the same wealthy industrialist and moved within the same circle of influence.

But while one spent decades quietly building political structures and alliances, the other spent those same decades documenting the glamour and success of the powerful.
Years passed.
Today, both speak politics.
One sits at the table where power is made.

Imagine your local chairman is someone you know personally — lives in your community, knows your struggles. That’s the power of true LG autonomy.”
Which area would benefit most from independent Local Govts?
-Security
-Roads & Infrastructure
-Jobs & Economy
-Healthcare & Schools
I will continue to lend my voice and advocate for sustainable development at all levels, especially at the grassroots — the true bedrock of our democracy.

Happy Independence Anniversary to our beloved country, Nigeria.
We remain a work in progress, and with collective effort and time, we can get it right.
God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria. 🇳🇬
-Security – community-based governance helps in fighting insecurity.
-Fair Elections – autonomy ensures INEC, not state governors, conducts LG polls.
-Good Governance – autonomy bridges the gap between citizens and government.

Why Nigeria needs true Local Government autonomy.
Local Government is meant to be the 3rd tier of govt, but in Nigeria it’s treated like an orphan. Governors hijack their functions. Here’s why that must change:
Grassroots, development, accountability, elections, security.
Grassroots, development, accountability, elections, security
-Grassroots Development – local councils are closest to the people, yet sidelined.
-Political Representation & Accountability – true democracy begins at the ward/local level.

@Tutsy22@officialABAT I am still trying to understand why #Nigeriancustoms and the #CBN have evaluation done in foreign currency and the payment is made in naira equivalent. You evaluate a car or goods brought into the country for duty payment in a Foreign currency? How? Why?
When you dont have an alternative means to support the negative effects it will on the citizens. I support #fuelsubsidy removal because of the fraud associated with it, but why suffer all when the fraud can be dealt with? The root cause of problem neeeds to be dealt with.
Wrong policies by govt will always have a negative effect on the the citizens no matter how the policy is perceived for development. Removal of subsidy at the time was a wrong choice timing. Floating of FX also came at a wrong time. #Governance
Considering our economic dependency on, petrol and FX for the #Nigerian context, both are very important drive of the economy which in my opinion should be carefully studied before any step is taken on it. Why remove subsidy
Gaslighting: I guess I’m just a really bad partner
Respectful: What I did was wrong and I’m sorry
The power of a few well-chosen words and a shift in tone can make your partner feel respected or not.
You can add yours to the thread.
