'Pirela works in a clinic and said she will probably go back to work in a few days. “It’s going to be a bit traumatic, you know? Because you go back feeling very nervous. Any phone alarm or anything like that triggers trauma. But I think little by little we are going to overcome those traumas,” she said.

For others, returning to work means returning to places marked by loss. “I am unbelievably sad. I am a pre-school teacher, and many of my students died. There are just three weeks before the end of the school year and we had been preparing for graduations. What do we do now?” Elizabeth Álvarez told The Miami Herald. Three of her colleagues also died.'

I was in Parque del Este tonight speaking to volunteers and affected families camping there. I was chatting to one family when two men came over to look what was going on then left. I started helping the family move their stuff to the road (I was carrying the cat!) as they were moving somewhere else. The two men called me over, asked me if I was a journalist, to which I said yes and showed them my wristbands. Asked more questions, who I was, where from, what I was doing. I asked who they were, as they still hadn't introduced themselves by this point. One (the politer one) said they were intelligence police, asked what I was doing, so I said speaking to the family etc. Asked if I knew them, I said no. Then asking qus like my age, which was weird as one had my passport which has my DOB. Took photos of my passport. Asked where I lived, said I didn't want to give that info. I asked why they wanted to know all this, they said for security and that people were taking children, so I asked if they thought I was taking kids. They said no. I told me they were asking me because I was a journalist and there was not a real free press. One was fairly polite and said they didn't want to make me uncomfortable. I said they already had. Eventually they gave me it back. It's ok to check who someone is, check they have a wristband which you now should have in the park - but I did, and I showed them, so why the need for questionning and taking photos of my passport? And why was the first qu, are you a journalist? Does everyone who enters the park get that level of treatment?

Los venezolanos no estamos felices,
no es verdad que los venezolanos estan bailando en las calles.
Ni antes ni mucho menos ahora después de estos dos terremotos.
Por favor, ¡No lo repitan más!.
Cada vez que lo dicen, se convierte en una grieta en el alma más profunda que la que hay ahora en los edificios.
Venezuela no está feliz con este régimen.
Es un país sin gobierno, antes y después del 3 de enero.

Allí en las oscuridad de las ruinas que quedaron apiladas, y en las que ellos han convertido a Venezuela.
No permitan que sigan lastimando a millones de venezolanos.
Ya es suficiente con los miles quienes van a tener que empezar a despedir a los suyos en los próximos días, cuando todos salgamos de este shock y comencemos a procesar las espantosas y reales cifras de fallecidos y heridos que el régimen también empezará a negar.

Una joven pareja se ofreció como voluntaria para servir de intérpretes (español–inglés–español) a los equipos internacionales de búsqueda y rescate que llegaron a Venezuela tras el terremoto del 24 de junio.

La periodista Maryorin Méndez destacó este gesto de solidaridad, que ocurre el mismo día en que la Red de Intérpretes Voluntarios anunció la suspensión de sus servicios, tras denunciar presunto acoso contra varios de sus integrantes.
