Today at 8:28 a.m., MTerra Solar delivered its first electron to the national grid, the first energy as a power generator. Just 16 months from groundbreaking, we are now live and generating mid-merit supply by Meralco. Well done!

It would also help if we’re mindful of our electricity consumption as the war in the Middle East continues. We import much of the fuel used to generate power—we can all help to have enough power to get through the next few weeks if we conserve power.

Meralco will review its current fuel position—especially LNG, the likely impact on the price of coal, the price of diesel—as these may affect power prices.

Worrying about our OFWs. I’ve asked PLDT and Smart to offer free calls for Filipinos in countries affected by the conflict in the Middle East. Details to follow, but the marching order is to make it as easy as possible for our countrymen to reach their loved ones, and vice versa.

PLDT, Smart, and TNT subscribers in the PH will also be able to call their loved ones in those same countries for free. We’re offering this until March 7, and will monitor the need for an extension.
