so true and so well put, I drank to Silva kool aid 2 seasons ago because of his profile, size and the overall hype and 2 years later hes so so mid , I dont even think he made Portugals Wc team as a reserve player but was quoted for north of 80mill euros a few seasons ago

Antonio Silva is exactly why I’ve been against Manchester United paying huge fees based purely on potential. Two years ago, Benfica wanted around €90m for António Silva when United were heavily linked. Today, Bournemouth are signing him for roughly €21.4m plus a potential €4.3 add-ons. That’s football. Potential doesn’t always become elite production. Players like Eliot Anderson and Mateus Fernandes with those overpriced valuations can turn out like Antonio Silva in two years’ time. This is why I keep saying INEOS must stop buying hype and start buying proven profiles that fit Carrick’s system. The “Manchester United tax” is only real if you’re willing to keep paying it.

More on exclusive Alex Scott story from earlier. Chelsea's rejected bid was £64m and was quickly turned down.

Bournemouth told Chelsea, much like they did to Arsenal, Manchester City and Manchester United, that they don't wish to sell.

Scott was first offered a new contract in March and on-off talks have taken place since.

Scott has indicated he has no plans, as it stands, to sign a new deal, even though Bournemouth are prepared to offer a contract with a 2027 release clause.

Bournemouth remain intent to keep Scott. Even if Scott doesn't agree to fresh terms, Bournemouth want to keep him for at least one more season. Current deal runs until summer 2027.🍒
