@JohnCarneyRE The issue with the post is that it's misleading as it lacks important context. What year was the home purchased, what year was it rented out. How much is the net profit etc. The post reads as you are making $5k net on $20k down. The statement "anyone can do this" is false.

Today we start simple for "TFSA Eligible Room" posts.

The year you turn 18 is the first year you are eligible for opening a TFSA and you get "just" that year's room.

Of all the tax changes made by the previous federal government, the dumbest by far has to be the clawback of part of the basic personal amount.

The amount of complexity created to sneak in a phantom 2.11% tax rate that results in at most $240 in taxes for people earning over $177,000 is just ridiculous.

@AcquiredFM The issue here is there's an assumption that you get no value for fees you pay. The behavioral coaching alone earns the fees for many people. This just leads to the why pay for anything when you can do it yourself mindset. But people still way for grass cutting, cleaning etc.
