@PsudoMike After speaking to some older advisors, they told me they would recommend trades every month for the perception that they are doing something to add value to their client. This is pretty much the same thing plus they can make money off each transaction.
@JohnCarneyRE The issue with the post is that it's misleading as it lacks important context. What year was the home purchased, what year was it rented out. How much is the net profit etc. The post reads as you are making $5k net on $20k down. The statement "anyone can do this" is false.
I had a client send me a bunch of YouTube videos of Jeremy Grantham predictions of a market crash. Took some inspiration from @MarkMcGrathCFP and used Claude to create this and sent it back.
@CP24 I hate to say it but it's greed. I've had a dozen clients ask me about these FB ads. I tell them it's a scam yet 3 them did it anyways. One lost there house. We were able to at least stop the scammers from putting a mortgage on the property by informing her son.
🇨🇦Canada STUNS with 87, 800 new jobs created in May.
That's way more than the 10,000 expected. And higher than every single economist estimate for the month
Meanwhile the unemployment rate PLUNGED to 6.6% from 6.9%
The details are pretty robust:
Full time job growth drove the gains exploding 154,000 while part-time gave back 66,200 jobs
Today we start simple for "TFSA Eligible Room" posts.
The year you turn 18 is the first year you are eligible for opening a TFSA and you get "just" that year's room.
So - if you are 18 in 2026 - then you get $7000 of room.
HOWEVER - one fun nuance...
Of all the tax changes made by the previous federal government, the dumbest by far has to be the clawback of part of the basic personal amount.
The amount of complexity created to sneak in a phantom 2.11% tax rate that results in at most $240 in taxes for people earning over $177,000 is just ridiculous.
@AcquiredFM The issue here is there's an assumption that you get no value for fees you pay. The behavioral coaching alone earns the fees for many people. This just leads to the why pay for anything when you can do it yourself mindset. But people still way for grass cutting, cleaning etc.
