Welcome back to another bonus point + DEFCON roundup after the latest OPTA update:

👉🏻Bobby Thomas failed to hit DEFCON but maintained his 2 bonus points

Thomas somehow didn’t hit DEFCON despite hitting 8DC in the first half, but the CS wipeout for his fellow defenders propelled him up to 2 bonus points to compensate.

The main distinction in the bonus was that none of the Hull defenders hit the pass threshold, whilst Thomas did (+2bps).

Thomas was also fouled 3 times (-3bps).

Hull keeper Konstantinos Tzolakis hit maximum bonus and 10 points for the second week in a row!

All three of his saves came inside the box for extra bps merit (+9bps total), alongside an additional +1bps for saving a big chance!

This was the most unluckiest of outcomes for Nobel Mendy owners. Not only did he finish one minute away from a clean sheet, he also finished one away from DEFCON.

To add to that, 3 more successful passes and he would have hit the pass threshold.

Meaning 3 simple passes and 1 DC before being subbed a couple of minutes later, he could be looking at a 9-10 pointer.

👉🏻Yoanne Wissa gained a bonus point, up to 2 bonus

👉🏻Van Hecke gained DC for the second consecutive update but still finished just shy on 8.

Amar Dedic lost a crucial CBI point (-1bps) in the update, bringing his bps total down to equal Wissa and both players finish on 2 bonus.

Lewis Hall had a tremendous game and not only ticked basically every positive box in the bps metric, but he had the largest BPS tally on record for just a simple clean sheet return!

• TWO goal line clearances (+18bps)

• 80% pass accuracy (+4bps)

• 2 successful crosses (+2bps), 2 successful dribbles (+2bps) and one key pass (+1bps)

• Plus a host of defensive actions to award another +7bps total!

👉🏻Tarkowski and Truffert both managed to hold onto 2 bonus points each

👉🏻Tavernier lost DEFCON, Truffert failed to gain 1DC required to hit DEFCON

When I say Tarkowski’s points were on a knife edge, he was one lost clearance away from a 3 point loss (DEFCON and bonus).

Dewsbury-Hall had excellent baseline bonus once again, and nearly squeezed into bonus contention with zero returns (just 3bps shy).

His highlights were 4 chances created (+4bps), 1 big chance created (+3bps) and 2 successful tackles (+4bps).

Truffert did however hit bonus despite conceding a goal and achieving no returns!

His goal line clearance (+9bps) heavily contributed, but he also hit the max passing threshold (+6bps) and accumulated 6bps from defensive actions amongst a couple of other things!

👉🏻Isak and Ndoye also survived the update to share 2 bonus points each

Incidentally Isak only had 14 touches all game.

• 26bps total coming from his goal + shot on target

• 6bps for simply playing 60+ mins.

• His only other positive bps contribution was a single chance created (+1bps).

Just shows how influential the striker goal bps is. Hardly any game involvement but still enough for 2 bonus!

But it’s something that is almost necessary for attackers in what is a defender + midfielder dominated metric.
