Oriire children has been abducted for 26 days now, slowly creeping into a month...
I genuinely hope people don't move on, always have them in mind and lend a voice, till their release.
🇨🇦🇸🇴 Today, I introduced a private member’s bill that would declare July of every year in Canada as Somali Heritage Month!
I’d like to thank MP @HonAhmedHussen for co-sponsoring this bill with me and for his counsel.
I hope that all MPs will support this legislation.
Canada is home to many Canadians of Somali heritage.
Canadians of Somali descent have left and continue to leave a historic mark on Canada, with contributions that span communities across the country and are reflected in Canada’s economic, political, social and cultural life.
If passed, Somali heritage month would give us an opportunity to celebrate that heritage, the role that Canada has played in supporting Somali Canadians and their contributions to Canada.
Aremu Olami, a content creator under Cute Abiola, decided to bless someone on the street with $500. He met a man riding an okada and asked him to pull over. Aremu told him he wanted to give him $500.
The man said he needed to call his Alfa first to confirm whether he should collect it. Aremu even told him that if he didn't want dollars, he could help him change it to naira. They called a bureau de change person, who said it was about ₦688,000.
Surprisingly, the Alfa told the bike man not to collect it. 😂 Aremu was like, "Kilode?" The man said nothing was wrong, but if the favour was truly meant for him, he and Aremu would meet again.
Some of you ehn, one day Alfa and pastor will end una life. 😭
Yes. Yes he did. That was his school, his team, and the coach put him in charge. Their personal belongings were under that tent. Those kids had EVERY RIGHT to tell him to leave.
The Karmelo Anthony verdict shows that the justice system has reverted back to the Jim Crow South era.
It is no longer about evidence.
It is no longer about right or wrong.
It is about keeping racial score through the prosecution and imprisonment of Black people.
It was no surprise that an all white jury would find a 19 year old kid, who was bullied and harassed by two 6’1” bullies, guilty of murder while he was minding his business.
We have seen this story before.
A young Black man is put on trial, and somehow the burden shifts from what happened to him, to why he should not have defended himself.
The facts become secondary.
The optics become everything.
The outcome feels predetermined long before the verdict is read.
People will tell you not to make it about race.
But race has always been part of the story in America.
The hard truth is that many Black people no longer believe they will receive the benefit of the doubt when their freedom is on the line.
And verdicts like this are exactly why.
At some point, we have to stop pretending that everyone is playing by the same set of rules.
Because the people watching this case saw something very different than what that jury claimed to see.
GUILTY.
A Texas jury just found Karmelo Anthony guilty of MURDER in the stabbing death of 17-year-old Austin Metcalf.
The "self-defense" claim collapsed instantly. The teammates who were there told the truth. The evidence was overwhelming.
Anthony brought a knife to a track meet and plunged it into the chest of an unarmed boy who died in his twin brother's arms.
The jury saw right through it.
This is the justice system at work.
We are under siege by terrorists whom we know personally. We have reported them and their activities to the government, and they are fully aware, yet they have done nothing about it..
WOW 😮 SO PEOPLE EVEN KNOW THEM? THIS MAN SHOUKD BE PROTECTED
When I placed the Renewed Hope Agenda before Nigerians, I did not speak of housing in vague terms. I gave my word that this administration would work to make decent homes affordable again, and that a hardworking family, after years of paying rent, would finally have a path to a house of its own.
Let me account for that promise plainly, by juxtaposing what we pledged beside what we have actually achieved.
