The landscape of nonprofit #leadership is constantly shifting and developing. Leading #nonprofits today has become increasingly more difficult and demanding work. I was happy to share my journey and experience with the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance. https://t.co/eEf5ReJlfI
A key component of #leadership is making space for others to grow.
“Leadership is the art of giving people a platform for spreading ideas that work.” - Seth Godin #LeadershipDevelopment
When I speak about #leadership I like to remind the audience to think about the traits of the #leaders they admire and remember the most. Let those (whatever they are) guide you on your leadership journey.
When people feel seen and valued, fear recedes. Curiosity replaces caution. And suddenly, ideas that can transform an entire organization begin to emerge from every corner.
New Center for Effective Philanthropy (@cepdata) data show 93% of foundations say they've changed how they operate since federal funding cuts, but only 12% think it's working. Nonprofits say the support they're getting, professional development, isn't what they need most.

Keeping a board happy cannot be the measure of effective nonprofit leadership, especially when leadership requires difficult truths, setting clear boundaries, and incorporating necessary change.
I have been working with a lot of leaders, experienced and new, who have no idea how to speak supportively to their teams and staff. Mainly because they’ve never heard supportive statements themselves. Here’s a good graphic I like to share.
Be unforgettable, but be unforgettable for the right reasons. Choose kindness over ego. Choose connection over status. Because at the end of the day, your impact is measured by the people you empower.
Year-end giving is growing lopsided. Ann Graham, CEO of @AgentsMIB, says the split is stark: "90 percent of the donations that come in are funded by 10 percent...What's shrinking is the 90 percent who are really concerned about filling their car up with gas or getting groceries." More:

Nonprofits provide a critical role in society as a shock absorber and stabilization layer that often operates in the background. The average growth rate for social media pages and profiles ranges from 0.4% to 1% per month, depending upon the platform. In other words, the era of organic growth on social media is over! https://t.co/c8RJ7YH4aR ✅
A mentor once told me that improvement is a choice, so make the choices that help you improve. That advice has made all the difference. #LeadershipDevelopment

People test psychological safety before they use it.
💡 They watch what happens when someone brings a bad idea to the table. When a project fails and there's a debrief. When someone pushes back on a decision already in motion. Those observations get filed away and inform every subsequent choice about what's worth saying out loud in this place, with these people, when something real is on the line.
The teams where people speak honestly under pressure didn't get there through a workshop. They got there through enough moments where honesty was met with something other than consequence.
👉 What's a moment in your team where something hard happened and the response made people more willing to speak up, not less?
