- A financial instrument for trade and credit transactions from Medieval India
- See it as an unconditional contract or order that warranties monetary payment

2. Fanam (Pre-2022)

- Coins from medieval India
- A currency from Travancore, these were used for trading
- Native language is said to be Malayalam

3. Paramita (Pre-2020)

- A sanskrit term meaning perfection
- As per Buddhism, attaining Paramita leads to Bodhisattva

4. Araghatta (Pre-2016)

- Water wheel used in irrigation of land
- Origin is likely to be Persian, this wheel was used in India to raise water from open wells

5. Kulah-daran (Pre-2022)

- Sayyids of Indian history
- Ones who wore pointed caps (kulah)
- Contemporary example can be turban wearers

6. Dharma and Rita (Pre-2011)

- Appear in the Rig veda
- Dharma signifies cosmic ordinance in connection with natural law
- Rita signified universal harmony in connection with impersonal law where everything in the world have a proper function and its own place

7. Mahattara and Pattakila (Pre-2014)

- Words for village headmen in Medieval India
- Responsible for administration and governance in respective villages
- Less clarity on why these are named so!

8. Kulyavapa and Dronavapa (Pre-2020)

- A measurement of land from Gupta period
- Both these words were used for relatively larger tracts of land
- That era saw multiple measurements of land in practice owing to tax variation

28% GST on online gaming, casinos etc: This slab is mostly reserved for sin goods. Seeing a lot of tweets & discussion here. A govt's top priority apart from raising revenues to run the country is also to disincentivise such addictions as far as possible. You can't let the majority of the young generation be hoodwinked into believing that they can have a profitable and sustainable lifestyle playing online games, rummy poker etc. (WHO even lists gaming addiction as mental illness)
During ASP stint in rural area, have firsthand witnessed families being shattered, careers being broken & lives being devastated due to offline & online gambling.
Online gaming can surely be a good form of occasional entertainment but everyone knows how fast it latches on to the person as an addiction. Hence it becomes the moral responsibility of the govt to control such vices in society. Proftability of such platforms comes far far below on the priority scale compared to the lives of millions of youngsters and citizens which can easily get destroyed. Anyway, many who get involved deeply just have to remember The House Edge mantra - The casino always wins. Have fun but stay safe!
