So this is a company I haven't talked about much as it is pre-revenue and the lithium market was dead until about 6 months ago.
Not FA. I'm long $IBATF and they are a client. It is essentially a call option on their technology be adopted, and they are late in the process with two active opportunities, one through their partner in the Middle East and one in the Smackover formation in the U.S. (the latter of which has both independent resource owners and large IOCs with land that are evaluating lithium extraction projects).
They have a Direct Lithium Extraction technology and process that is considered to be among the best, if not the best out there. See the release below.
So why now:
Lithium Carbonate prices have nearly tripled from a low of ~$8k to nearly $24k. This has made lithium projects in the U.S. economically viable and has significantly accelerated project development activity by lithium resource owners, as evidenced by the sheer number of brine resources IBAT is testing.
IBAT is one of the few domestic companies that can say is fully-American content. Most get their media from China or elsewhere.
IBAT is one of the few companies to have deployed a commercial plant at scale in the U.S. As I said, they are also looking at opportunities in the Middle East, as well as S. America
Strong management team with success in related, publicly traded businesses.
They will provide updates on their financial results call next week.
See the post below about some recent testing they've done.

$IBAT.V $IBATF just reported Q4 and full year fiscal 2026 results — and the headline isn't the financials. Tune into the webcast today at 11:00 a.m. Eastern Time https://t.co/ZXTDFB6BoA
They are in active commercial discussions with multiple operators who have tested their own brine through our system. They're down the road on two potential opportunities to redeploy the existing MDLE plant and optimistic about getting to a signed deployment agreement soon. That's the most direct we've ever been about where things stand.
The technology is holding up across every brine we throw at it. Smackover in Texas and Arkansas. Middle East. Argentina. 98% lithium recovery. 99%+ contaminant rejection. 1,200+ cycles on a single column with zero degradation.
Different brines. Same results. Now let's close a deal (or two).

$IBATF $IBAT just dropped Smackover DLE test results. We have now tested brine from multiple resource owners across the Smackover (and also the Middle East and South America). Here's the release: https://t.co/hAwMfLHyYG
98% lithium recovery.
99%+ contaminant rejection.
1,200 cycles on a single column with zero degradation.
All-American content.
Same technology that produced lithium chloride from synthetic brine in Utah that was refined into 25 tonnes of battery-grade lithium carbonate. The technology does not flinch.
We are late in the process with two potential customers, one in the middle east and one in the Smackover.
Tune in next week for our year end financial results call.
Tagging a few lithium gurus we follow here as things could get interesting in the coming months. If there are others we should be following, let us know!

Recent critical minerals headlines reinforce something that cuts across politics. The U.S. economy and defense sector both depend on secure lithium supply.
Lithium sits at the intersection of national security, advanced manufacturing and next-generation energy technologies. Demand is expanding faster than legacy supply chains were built to support.
Policy momentum around stockpiles, allied sourcing and faster permitting shows growing recognition that mineral security is infrastructure security. But policy alone cannot close the gap. Production must scale at commercial speed.
Direct lithium extraction technologies offer a faster, more efficient alternative to traditional mining, helping bring new supplies online with shorter development timelines. IBAT brings modular, commercially deployable systems designed for rapid installation and repeatable scale, with proprietary technology already engineered for industrial use to support more affordable pathways to market and faster domestic production.
The opportunity for a domestic lithium industry is here. The focus now shifts to how quickly domestic production can be brought online.
We stand ready to answer that call.

We appreciated the opportunity to take part in the event that @FutureMineral Forum in Saudi last week and came away encouraged by the momentum around mining and minerals development in the Middle East region.
#Energytransition minerals were front and center throughout the forum, with a particular focus on #Lithium from high-concentration deposits and advancing cost-effective direct lithium extraction technologies.
Saudi Arabia stands out as a country with vast resources and real momentum. We look forward to evaluating projects aligned with the Kingdom’s @SaudiVision2030 goals.
It was a valuable week of conversations and connections, and we look forward to the next steps.

IBAT CEO Joseph Mills and Garrett Galloway, SVP of corporate development, will attend the Future Minerals Forum (FMF), Jan. 13-15, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The event provides an excellent platform to engage with industry leaders, investors and policymakers as part of the global conversation around critical minerals, supply chains and crucial new production technologies, including IBAT’s scalable, modular Direct Lithium Extraction (DLE).
FMF has become an important convening point, as the Middle East emerges as both a meaningful critical minerals market opportunity and a central voice in global discussions around expanding the mineral value chain.
For IBAT, being there in person matters, and we look forward to generating ideas and opportunities around IBAT DLE technology with our Middle East energy services partner. These discussions are where ideas turn into relationships.

New year, new lithium resolutions.
In 2026, the lithium industry is moving past hype and focusing on what actually scales:
✅ Proven technology.
✅ Faster timelines.
✅ Lower surface impact.
✅ Affordable solutions.
✅ Domestic supply that can move from concept to production.
At IBAT, our resolution is simple: keep doing the hard work that moves lithium from promises to production.

Washington is getting serious about domestic lithium.
Members of Congress are calling on the Department of War to use Defense Production Act Title III to accelerate lithium development in the Smackover region — home to the highest-grade lithium brines in North America.
For IBAT, this is clear momentum. Policy is catching up to scalable, brine-based lithium extraction. Domestic supply, national security and execution finally aligned.

Utility-scale battery storage is gaining ground as a key driver of lithium demand. Demand from the sector could rise 55% next year, according to UBS analysts, as utilities and data centers look for dependable, flexible electricity.
This shift underscores the need for lithium production that can scale quickly and operate with a smaller, agile footprint to build out domestic supply chains. @IBAT_DLE 's modular direct lithium extraction technology does just that: provides a faster, more flexible path to bringing new domestic supply online when and where it’s needed most.
As large-scale storage accelerates, IBAT is committed to delivering the reliable lithium production needed to keep this growth moving forward.

The lithium market narrative is finally shifting to a positive outlook with robust and growing demand for large-scale battery storage.
Citigroup analysts are now forecasting that energy storage systems (ESS) will account for one-third of total battery demand by 2030, up from 20% last year.
While market dynamics will always present fluctuations, the fundamental global demand drivers for battery storage are intensifying, including in the U.S., to support power grids as well as other types of batteries.
At IBAT, we are committed to reliably supplying lithium carbonate from our modular direct lithium extraction technology, which is designed for faster deployment with a smaller footprint and scalable production.
What are your thoughts on this exciting shift in the lithium market's focus? How do you see energy storage systems demand shaping the future of lithium?
