JNU in collaboration with Fortis Hospital (Vasant Kunj) held a Walkathon 2026 at JNU campus on 19 August to create awareness about the Cervical Cancer prevention vaccine amongst girls and women. From Fortis Hospital, Gynae-oncologist Dr Rama Joshi and Dr Gurvinder Kaur spoke about the HPV screening tests and apprised the students and staff about the prevention, detection and cure for Cervical Cancer. There was an interactive round with the students. Over 130 students and staff of JNU attended the Walkathon.

This Cervical Cancer awareness campaign was supported and prioritized by the VC Professor Santishree Dhulipudi Pandit. Walkathon was coordinated by the JNU CMO, Dr Fouzia and Prof Jyoti Atwal from the school of social sciences. Several students across various schools supported as volunteers.

I am a Project Staff working in JNU under an ICMR grant, at a point of time I also got my monthly stipend after a gap of nearly 3 months. This happens at the time of project renewal but can occur other time depending upon the funding agency.
