This is what many of them don’t understand. Some of us would return to Nigeria, wherever we happened to be, the moment our purpose abroad was fulfilled. When I completed my postgraduate programme in London, I joined a few friends in applying for jobs and even secured a position at a policy institute. Deep down, though, I knew I was only going through the motions.

I had spent years building an invaluable network in Abuja. Walking away from that to start life from scratch in a foreign country never made sense to me. I count myself fortunate to have an exceptionally loving family, loyal friends and principals who have always believed in me. Looking back, I have never doubted that turning down that job in London was one of the best decisions I ever made.

Do you know what it means for a foreign ambassador to go to a FEDERAL building and visit a FEDERAL official?

The embassy would have done its homework

1. Is he a fraudster? No, EFCC cleared him

2. Does he have Presidential backing? Yes, his organisation is listed not just in the FEDERAL budget but in the PRESIDENCY allocation in the Federal Budget

3. Is this a case of federal approval, federal budget, or impersonation? No, hehosted seminars in the FEDERAL capital attended by FEDERAL officers

The error made here was the President’s spokesman getting involved. Or now makes this a conspiracy.

Next time you go to the embassy with VALID “official documents” and they are rejected, don't complain

Of all the allegations of unprecedented corruption surrounding the Tinubu administration, this case stands out as the clearest indication yet of how some within the government appear to view Nigeria's collective wealth as a personal cake to be shared.

Rather than putting public concerns to rest, Mr. Bayo Onanuga's rebuttal raises even more questions than it answers. In any administration committed to accountability, Femi Gbajabiamila would have been suspended immediately, pending a genuinely independent, transparent, and credible investigation. Anything less only deepens public suspicion and further erodes confidence in the government's commitment to transparency and the rule of law.
