Prediction. 1 year from now Caffeine will not run on the ICP blockchain.
It will run on a cloud engine version of the ICP replica owned by Caffeine, running on AWS.
Burning zero cycles or ICP.
@zucaro_mar83047 The ICP replica/node has been reengineered to run on AWS instances in addition to specialized ICP hardware, so node providers will be able to create nodes on AWS.
AWS was incredibly helpful to DFINITY engineering teams and provided special functionality.
No deal needed.
Huge miss-allocation of hundreds of millions of dollars by @dfinity product and growth departments over the past 5 years.
By staying laser focused, we might have seen core improvements to II and the NNS earlier on, and a leaner but higher quality and more resilient ICP ecosystem
@Icpmusk Yep. Really comes down to investing in too many areas and making the wrong bets.
DFINITY didn’t put enough time into improving their core apps (NNS, II) and they put too much time & money into the SNS and Caffeine/AI initiatives.
They also severely fumbled with the ecosystem 👇
@Icpmusk DFINITY struggled to identify & fund promising projects, choosing instead to indiscriminately fund hundreds to thousands of mediocre apps with no future.
Talented entrepreneurs were underfunded and left, leaving the memes & grifter projects who solely extracted value from retail

@jp_dawg It’s his personality that’s the problem.
He’s pissed off so many people in the crypto space that no one wants to help him out.
It’s a self perpetuating cycle, and is why he literally couldn’t raise from any VCs to fund his recent Caffeine venture.
Hah. @caffeineai CTO essentially admitting building Caffeine wasn’t necessary.
All they needed to write was an MCP server.
So that’s $70M+ down the drain.
Caffeine is separating how you build from where you ship.
Build with any AI and toolchain, then host a real, self-owned product on the Internet Computer.
New plans, new ways to build, plus collaboration coming soon.
Never lose access to your identity again.
Internet Identity now has email recovery. Lose every device, and you still get back in with a message from your own inbox. II verifies it is really you.

DFINITY had a massive layoff in April.
DFINITY site says the team is 180+, but there are 116 only photos. A handful of those listed no longer work at DFINITY according to LinkedIn, with many publicly posting they were let go.
My guess is DFINITY has 90 left. Will be 50 by EOY.

@OWHistory It’s simple supply and demand.
There’s just too much liquid ICP supply held by DFINITY (tens of millions) and too much minted each month compared to the amount burned.
Institutional liquidity is too smart to enter the market and get continuously dumped on. So retail gets pwned
2.5M internet-computer:native MOVED AFTER MORE THAN FIVE YEARS OF DORMANCY
Five wallets funded directly by the minting protocol with 500k ICP each on May 6, 2021, transferred their entire balances to a wallet allegedly linked to @dfinity Foundation on June 2.
The 2.5M ICP had remained inactive for more than five years and is now consolidated into a single address. The source wallets are now empty.
@wearhelmet1@dominic_w@cryptodicted No. The point of web3 was to provide full app ownership for creators.
ICP does web3, but it’s impractical at app scale past 300k users. The protocol is slow, inefficient, and expensive compared to web2.
Users don’t care if an app is on web2 or web3. They just want it to be good
@wearhelmet1@dominic_w@cryptodicted Actually nothing at the ICP infra level supports AI. Zero.
AI can write canisters in Motoko or Rust, but orthogonal persistence doesn’t add much. AI already knows how to write safe data migrations.
Plus that technology isn’t even infra, it’s DevOps
AI compute is on AWS/GCP/etc
@wearhelmet1@dominic_w@cryptodicted The OG vision was for a crypto cloud. Not a general purpose one.
Trying to build a new internet is an huge vision. You’re competing against 2T+ $ cloud giants.
A huge scope allows Dom to speak broadly instead of specifics. He exhibits a clear lack of focus, pivoting annually.
