@ReformJersey Hi, you used to have a "how they vote" section on your website but I can't find it anymore? I've only got one reform candidate that I can vote for so wanted to see what other options I have.
@StevenFalk1 Hi! Saw this nomad bee yesterday and the best match I can find in your book is N. sheppardana - however I'm in Jersey and it sounds like they've not been recorded here for a long time. Would be exciting, but is there a more likely match that I've missed? Thanks!!
Giant Leopard Moths (Hypercompe scribonia) are pretty enough when you see them at rest. The black spots and hints of iridescent blue on the wings and thorax are alone enough to set them apart in a crowd. But viewed from below they absolutely dazzle—those blues are incredible.
@StevenFalk1 Hey, I'm trying to ID a bee I saw in Belgium, and noticed that the links in your flickr collections to belgian resources don't work. Don't suppose you have any others? Thanks!
Getting to see these absurdly pretty dudes never loses its magic. I imagine would-be predators just gazing, mystified, into the red-fringed eyespots of the astounding Io Moth (Automeris io).
I really want everyone to pivot back from video. I fucking hate video. Do not ever make me watch a video just to obtain information. Making me watch a video instead of giving me text I can read is an act of violence against me specifically. When will it end.
This is a bee beetle! (Trichius species) Which I found in a meadow near Chamonix over the weekend!
They mimic a bumblebee to avoid predation, and as you can see they're an excellent pollinator!
