We’re thrilled to announce Vox Entertainment has unionized! We welcome our friends — who produce television shows like Explained, No Passport Required, and Consider It — to the @WGAEast family.
One year ago today, we began negotiating our first collective bargaining agreement with Vox Media. We're back at the table this week, continuing to fight for a fair contract for all #VoxUnion employees. ✊
Thank you to the tens of thousands of creators and EU citizens who spoke out about the unintended consequences of Article 13. The amendment to delete A13 lost by a few votes, and could have gone differently. This is the beginning. #saveyourinternet https://t.co/07bsjVGVvf
We're super stoked to get to our last phase of bargaining: economics. It's been a long journey, but we're so thankful for everyone's overwhelming continuous public support, and we couldn't be more excited to present our proposal across the table today. #VoxUnion ✊
BuzzFeed “basically hit” $300 million in revenue for 2018, the Journal reported, but CEO Jonah Peretti told staff that “revenue growth by itself isn’t enough to be successful in the long run." https://t.co/V1pCw61Rly
The Internet Creators Guild (@ICGuild) doesn't have a Giving Tuesday campaign, but if you're in the market to give AND get, please look into a membership. Your membership will support active measures to make the online creator space more fair and equitable https://t.co/I5wChmos3f

@ceciliakang@sheeraf@nickconfessore @AllMattNYT @jacknicas In other recent @Facebook news: “Advertisers were duped into focusing on the social network under the belief that people were spending more time watching on Facebook than through other video platforms.” https://t.co/8GDFz03Xer
@ceciliakang@sheeraf@nickconfessore @AllMattNYT @jacknicas Wow.
“Facebook employed a Republican opposition-research firm to discredit activist protesters, in part by linking them to the liberal financier George Soros.”
How do creators feel about monetizing a platform that uses these tactics?
The more I learn about the business of early online video, how things actually went down, the more I see that the "wild west" wasn't about how free we were to create, it was about how free assholes were to suck value out of innovative young creators.
