I suddenly had a whole pack of clients on my hands -OpenChat, Nuance, Taggr, SNS Governance, ICPSwap - all bristling with tools and user interfaces.

Neutron apps are a strange cocktail of UI, skills, tools, and native ICP machinery. The agents sent me roaring through the ecosystem: communing with my newly discovered Chinese brothers in the ICU chat, enriching various OpenChat communities with a custom-tailored joke for every channel, executing a swap on ICPSwap, and finally posting the report from the trenches on Taggr.

I wouldn’t have dreamed of escaping that expedition in less than several hours. This time, it took ten minutes -and, against all reason, it was quite a lot of fun.

Hackathon registration will close this Saturday, Aug. 15, or when it reaches the limit of 1,000 participants, whichever comes first. Then the hackathon begins.

The prize pool will have at least 10,000 cICP, and sponsors can add rewards to it as it goes.

Hackers can vibe-code decent apps after 20 minutes of prompt tinkering and then let the AI do the rest over a few hours. The more knowledge people have, the higher their chances of producing something technically solid, but that doesn't exclude the possibility that someone could win a reward with just a good idea. 20 apps will be rewarded.

Neutron is used for creating a user-sovereign agentic OS running on #ICP. Developers make apps; users install them. These apps expose tools to AI.

You can say something like, "Check my mail and social networks, think like a secretary, and respond to questions using the knowledge base in the Files app," making the agent interact with a bunch of apps to complete the task.

All of this happens inside a tab in your browser and on ICP. You never install anything on your desktop computer, and the agent runs in a sandboxed environment where you fully control the apps and context.

It currently uses OpenRouter for inference. With DFINITY's planned Intelligence Gateway, these canisters will be able to run resident agents even when your browser tab is closed.
