Kenyan Journalists working for international Media houses like Associated Press, Reuters & BBC Africa have requested a parliamentary committee investigation into allegations of labour exploitation and violations of their rights.
In the statement read to parliament by Funyula MP Dr Wilberforce Oundo, International Media Houses have been accused of underpaying Kenyans, paying Kenyan freelancers as little as $150 while paying white freelancers up to $1500. The media houses have also been accused of paying Kenyan staff $1500 while paying White journalists up to $10,000 a month.

The international media houses have also been accused of bringing journalists from foreign countries to work in Kenya while refusing to hire Kenyans to the same jobs
Kenyan journalists have also complained of being blacklisted from work by Bureau chiefs whenever they raise complaints on the issues to do with pay and racial discrimination.
