✅ The operatives successfully engaged the suspected bandits in a gun duel, forcing them to flee into the bush.

2. BENUE STATE (26th September, 2026): ARREST OF TWO SUSPECTED CULTISTS / RECOVERY OF FIREARM

✅ One locally fabricated pistol was successfully recovered from their possession.

3. EBONYI STATE (26th September, 2026): ARREST OF TWO SUSPECTS IN ABDUCTION AND SEXUAL ASSAULT CASE

✅ Police operatives successfully arrested two suspects linked to the abduction and sexual assault of two female victims.

✅ The suspects were transferred alongside the victims and case file to the State CID for discreet investigation.

4. OYO STATE (25th September, 2026): ARREST OF SUSPECT / RECOVERY OF FIREARM AND AMMUNITION

✅ Police personnel on routine stop-and-search operations along the Ibadan/Ife Expressway successfully intercepted a commercial vehicle.

✅ One suspect was successfully arrested following the recovery of a locally-made pistol and one live cartridge from his possession.

5. OYO STATE (25th September, 2026): ARREST OF TWO SUSPECTED ELECTRICAL CABLE VANDALS / RECOVERY OF EXHIBIT

✅ Police operatives successfully intercepted and arrested two suspects along the Igboora-Eruwa Expressway.

✅ Electrical aluminium conductor wire suspected to have been vandalized from electricity poles was successfully recovered.

6. OYO STATE (23rd September, 2026): ARREST OF SUSPECT IN ATTEMPTED MURDER CASE

✅ Police operatives successfully responded to an attempted murder incident at Balose Village.

✅ One suspect was successfully arrested and is currently in custody.

✅ The injured victim was successfully evacuated to Bowen University Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso, for medical treatment.

7. KANO STATE (26th September, 2026): RESCUE OF POLICE OFFICER / RESTORATION OF NORMALCY

✅ Police patrol operatives successfully mobilized to Kofar Mata following a mob attack.

✅ An ASP was successfully rescued from the mob and evacuated for medical treatment.

✅ Normalcy was successfully restored, with the area placed under close police monitoring.

8. KEBBI STATE (26th September, 2026): RESPONSE TO KIDNAPPING / ONGOING RESCUE OPERATION

✅ Manhunt and bush-combing operations are ongoing to rescue the abducted victims and apprehend the perpetrators.

3. DELTA STATE (22nd September, 2026): ARREST OF MURDER SUSPECT / RECOVERY OF WEAPONS

✅ One suspected bandit was successfully neutralised, while two others were arrested.

✅ No casualty was recorded on the police side.

2. KATSINA STATE (21st September, 2026): FOILED BANDIT ATTACK / RESCUE OF SEVEN VICTIMS

✅ Police operatives successfully engaged armed bandits who intercepted a vehicle conveying six female students of the Federal University Dutsin-Ma along the Kankara-Dutsin-Ma Road.

✅ The bandits were successfully repelled and forced to flee into the bush with gunshot injuries.

✅ All seven occupants of the vehicle were successfully rescued unhurt.

✅ The rescued victims were medically evaluated, discharged and reunited with their families.

3. ANAMBRA STATE (22nd September, 2026): ARREST OF FOUR SUSPECTED TERRORIST GROUP MEMBERS

✅ The suspects confessed to membership of an outlawed terrorist group and provided useful information on the activities of the group.

✅ Efforts have been intensified to apprehend fleeing members of the group.

PRESS RELEASE

POLICE ARREST SIXTEEN SUSPECTED CULTISTS, RECOVER FOUR FIREARMS, SIX LIVE CARTRIDGES, EIGHT ROUNDS OF LIVE AMMUNITION, TWO AXES AND OTHER EXHIBITS

The Delta State Police Command has recorded another breakthrough in its sustained crackdown on cultism and other violent crimes across the State, with the arrest of twelve suspected cultists and the recovery of firearms, ammunition and other incriminating exhibits in separate intelligence-led operations.

1. ARREST OF EIGHT SUSPECTED CULTISTS; RECOVERY OF THREE LOCALLY FABRICATED PISTOLS, LIVE AMMUNITION AND OTHER EXHIBITS

On 17 July 2026 at about 0200hrs, operatives of the Command's Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU), acting on credible intelligence, raided a suspected criminal hideout at Amukpe, Sapele Local Government Area, where they arrested Lucky Naset (30), Ochuko Midwest (27), Samuel Oghene (29), Michael Mmadu (35), Dennis Philip (28), Goodluck Onujenya (30), Ovie Royal (25), and Divine Otemu (22), all suspected members of the Aiye Confraternity.
A thorough search of the hideout led to the recovery of three locally fabricated pistols, six live cartridges, eight rounds of live ammunition of different calibres, two axes, two suspected cannabis grinders, one bottle containing a suspected illicit substance, and other incriminating exhibits.
Preliminary investigation indicates that the suspects are linked to cult-related activities within the Sapele axis. Investigation is ongoing to apprehend other members of the syndicate and recover additional weapons.

2. ARREST OF EIGHT SUSPECTS OVER ALLEGED CULT-RELATED ATTACK

In a separate operation on the same day at about 1130hrs, operatives arrested Ifeanyi Emeka (25), Hope Sunday (24), Francis Onyechiwalla (23), and Chinedu Joseph (25), in connection with the alleged attack on a male victim (name withheld) from Illabor Community, Ika North East Local Government Area, with a cut-to-size gun.
During preliminary investigation, the suspects allegedly confessed to being members of the Eiye Confraternity. Suspects are in custody while investigation continues to determine their involvement in other cult-related crimes and apprehend other members of the group.

The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, psc, acipm, mnips, commended the operatives for the successful operations and reiterated the command's unwavering commitment to dismantling criminal gangs and cult groups across the State. He urged members of the public to continue providing credible and timely information to the Police, assuring residents that the command will sustain intelligence-led operations to ensure the safety and security of all.
