Personally, I’m anti-chasing women. If you gotta put in work to basically convince a woman to like you…I hate to break it to you, but that’s never going to be your woman.
Being ghosted, being dumped, and being fired are often the best things that can happen to you; everyone has just universally decided they are the worst.
If you were fired, there's a good chance that your next job is going to be more fun and pay you more.
Stop being scared of adversity. Adversity is amazing. Adversity is the core foundation of success. It is very hard to have sustained success when you had a lack of adversity in your life.
Kiss the ground and thank the heavens for the opportunity to get somewhere better! This goes for jobs but also goes for relationships in any form.
Be thankful you're on to the next chapter
Whatever is bothering you right now…. Take a breath. Be grateful for what's going well and realize what you can and can't control. Most of you have so much more than you give yourselves credit for. If you woke up to people you love being healthy, you already won the day.
Lean into gratitude for the important things and your everyday struggles tend to seem small.
This is what it looked like at Eastridge Mall in San Jose in 1992.
I used to go there with my buddies just to look at metal CDs, and a lot of the time we picked albums based on the cover art alone.
CDs weren’t cheap back then, but somehow the music and the album itself felt like they were worth more than music does today, where everything is just streamed.

You didn't waste time. You lived life. Too many people beat themselves up over missteps that were actually lessons. If you're reading this now, you can adjust. Give yourself some grace… you're human, and everyone has shortcomings!!
Kyrie Irving says Kobe Bryant told him to read ‘The Alchemist’ in order to stop being obsessed with proving people wrong
“He knew how curious I was, not just about being great at the game, but about life. That’s why he gave me the book ‘The Alchemist’ and told me to read that… Kobe’s smart… He studied all the greats in every other industry so he could figure out how to be great too…”
“It was about really taking the time to get to know who the people are around you. Get to know them as much as you invest in watching the game. I’m an avid student of all the greats in basketball.”
“He really put all those other authors in my life so I could help balance what I was into. Since I was 12 or 13 years old, I’ve studied basketball more than 10,000 hours, as they say before you become an expert or master your craft.”
“I’ve played more than 10,000 hours. I’ve done all that. When I got to Boston, I was ready for a new challenge, but I didn’t know how it was going to come from within. That’s why he gave me The Alchemist.”
“The journey is the reward. Embrace the journey. Don’t think about the end goal so much where you’re fixated on trying to prove people wrong or be at the mountaintop without going through the details that it takes to really appreciate it. That was him.”
“His mentorship was like, ‘Yo, stay curious, bro. I know you’re different. You’re not like everybody else out here.’”
