We have been using @Desmos to address student writing in mathematics. Questions where students are asked to modify another student's thinking reduce the cognitive demand of creating an original response, but still push students to analyze and justify (SMP3).

Our latest paper was published today. It’s about the classic (and amazing!) phenomenon of pendulum clocks that get in sync. Metronomes can do something similar, as you may have seen in videos on YouTube. Hopefully the intro of the paper is readable. Enjoy! https://t.co/aVsuW71yeF
I love trying out new tasks. Today I worked with 4th graders on our new Carpet Task in @Desmos. I made a few modifications based on student feedback after the lesson, but overall the kids understood the area model for division.

Thinking about online education I am consistently drawn back to this ingnite talk by @mjfenton. The video creates the perfect lens for self-evaluation and I am left feeling inspired every time I watch it. Hope you are too.

I am not sure when @MLCmath changed their Free Apps so that students can now share their work with a link, but I think this is a game changer!
I am excited try out the feature with my online class of math teachers next week! #idahomath@idmathed

Today's Notice and Wonder - two-sided counters that we packed into math kits. What mathematical questions could we answer? #idahomath
Info: Each stack has five counters. Each math kit received 20 counters. We used 7,000 total counters. I averaged 1,000 counters/27 minutes.

Does your child need practice with fraction add/sub and finding equivalent fractions? You should think about playing "Race to One" in your home.
Here is a detailed video on how to create the game pieces and how to play the game. @idmathed#idahomath
