I think the eventual goal is for them to take over volume of trading. Rather than getting hit with 15% in sales fees online on eBay, trade your slabs on their marketplace permissionlessly, or set up trades thru the platform.
I would be interested in seeing the number of people submitting their own slabs to be digitized over time. I did it once as a buyer for a project and it was a smooth process.
I’m unsure how they could liquidate their inventory at a reasonable rate with how much they are buying to be fair
The “commons” are usually CGC slabs of Japanese basic pokemon. No one is gonna redeem that.
Most times people redeem are big hits and user found inefficiency between the sell back price and the actual market value.
For example you get a card that is valued at $50, you get a sell offer for $35, then you realize it’s a stamped card and the sales are from the non stamp. You would keep this.
It actually isn’t a leak UNTIL it is redeemed, the biggest spinners those whales are people pooling together their cards digitally, more than likely not redeeming. Buybacks on huge hits for the regular folk are more enticing if you hit that 1%
If you spin a couple times you’ll get: a PP up from heart gold soul silver in a cgc 7, then an iron treads cgc 10, then a yu nagaba in an 8, so the cards themselves are a bit lack luster, which makes sense because they want it to be sold back.
@Collector_Crypt the OG
@phygitals has cheap packs too
@Slabzapp by @MediaGiraffes built on top of collector crypt. Been using this one the most recently since it’s newer and made by a goat.
Don’t know the ETH side, I think courtyard is one but seeing people having problems shipping sometimes
Right but again, you’re comparing different eras.
If we talk about the era you picked a card from, reverse stamps and reverse e-readers were not considered valuable until (relatively) recently.
Now 15-20 years later, the amount of good condition cards from an era that the TCG was about to die from is near 0.
Trying to find a copy that is grade-worthy is near impossible because anyone who has one realizes how valuable grading it is, or they are in lp region where you are getting a 7-4 on grades.
Collectors fundamentally look and TREAT cards differently from pre-covid boom, just look at the inflation of gem rate over the years.
