Logged off for a few days. Opened the app without logging in. That was informative. I have curated my feed pretty well apparently. What is happening on this platform is horrific. I didn't like people much to begin with, but now ... ugh.
@RaynaRambling You just made an always, and never statement that is simply not true. And that’s my issue with the framing of this whole debate right there
@RaynaRambling I want the focus to be on drivers too but I don’t see that as being a reason not to also encourage other users to also be high vis. It makes a difference, if a driver can see you from a block away instead of a few feet away regardless
@RaynaRambling when driving, I have daytime running lights on at all times, b/c they’re mandatory for this very reason. When walking or riding my bike, I wear high visfor the same reasons. My issue is the either/or instead of both/and.
@RaynaRambling I agree messaging to drivers needs to be better, but disagree msging to pedestrians/cyclists isn’t also needed. Again not saying the video is good, it’s not. But the blog reflects a trend to suggesting high vis isn’t needed - look at the replies
I don’t know who needs to hear this, but there is absolutely NOTHING you can do that will change your child’s sexual orientation. It doesn’t matter who they’re raised by, if you make them play sports, what toys you buy them, or what TV shows you let them watch. Stop being stupid.
@hokietrax @JayTurberville Yeah but it matters a great deal when a driver is paying attention & can see you from a block away instead of when they’re right on top of you. Literally. The idea that high vis is useless is utter nonsense. It’s not all one or the other
@RaynaRambling To be clear - I think the video was I’ll conceived. I’m more responding to the trend I’ve been seeing of ppl insisting that encouragement to wear lights/reflective gear is wrong b/c we shouldn’t have to.
@RaynaRambling I agree too much public space/thinking is ceded to cars, but I don’t agree w/binary on this. Someone in dark clothes w/no lights/reflective gear is near invisible in the rain/dark. Same as cars w/no lights on. That’s why they made daytime running lights
@DiabolicalSpuds Eating Indian food in the car wearing a button down shirt and tie! I was soooooo stressed out watching this 😳😳😳 Also, now I have to make butter chicken for dinner
@ejamesYYJ I agree yelling isn’t great - not encouraging that. But a lot of yelling is due to misinformation, misunderstanding & simple ignorance (as in not knowing). Adam’s usual methods, as reflected in this tweet, don’t make any of that better - they feed it.
@ejamesYYJ I’m not as bothered by the fellow yelling as I am by the out of context presentation & editorializing designed to tell the story most likely to generate outrage (& thus more yelling). This form of so-called “ journalism” is an ouroboros & bad for all.
The US is going to have 30-40 million 80 yr olds driving because the built environment is car dependent.
Baby Boomers are a huge reason for local govs to legalize walk-friendly, bike-friendly, transit-friendly neighborhoods.
(psst, abolish zoning)

@BowinnMa For people and businesses who need to access cancellation insurance, it is likely better the order cover the whole area and not specific locations. Please consider an amendment.
@Girl2Poco@richardzussman Am aware. Am wondering if order specifically names it. Matters for ppl cancelling travel b/c some insurance won’t cover w/out orders
