In a win that is set to inspire journeyman actors, Ernest Harden Jr., who has built a career as a character actor doing largely supporting roles in movies and guest starring stints on series, often for 1-2 episodes, is now an Emmy winner.

At age 73, Harden Jr. received his first Emmy nomination — which he converted into a win — for his role as alcoholic patient Louie Cloverfield on HBO Max’s medical drama The Pitt.

“I am on cloud 25,” Harden Jr. said backstage. “I’m not saying this is a complete surprise because The Pitt is such a powerful show to come from, but just to get it in your hands is like unreal.”
