For our marine lovers along the coast, we are helping our partners at ORRCA recruit volunteers to join the 2024 ORRCA Whale Census Day on Saturday 30th June! 🐋

Simply pick a favourite headland and register for the event to log your location. The ORRCA team will email you the Census Day kit one week prior to the event, which contains a sighting fact sheet and how to access their Data Collection App to log your sightings on the day.

We were so excited to join the Sydney Wildlife team to celebrate #NationalVolunteersWeek this week.

The team got stuck in, removing weeds and mowing grass to help prepare an enclosure that will become a home for wombats in care as they transition to return #backtothewild.

Meet Bob, the critically endangered hawksbill sea turtle.

Our friends at Australian Seabird & Turtle Rescue South Coast Branch were called to rescue him in August last year. He was looking very unwell with a severe injury to his flipper and in need of expert veterinary care.

IFAW provided vital resources to ensure Bob got the specialist help he needed – which included surgery to repair his damaged flipper. A treatment plan was developed and after months of care and monitoring, Bob was transferred to Coffs Coast Wildlife Sanctuary to complete his rehabilitation. In January this year, Bob was released #backtothewild where he belongs.

Australia is the only developed nation named as a 'global deforestation hotspot', and NSW is the worst-ranked state in the country.

Every year, 50 million trees and an area the size of Newcastle are destroyed. Countless animals, including koalas, gliders, possums, and birds, are left homeless. We need to ditch this shameful title now!

IFAW and other leading organisations in the Alliance for @naturensw are calling on the Premier @ChrisMinnsMP, Agriculture Minister @TaraMoriarty, and Environment Minister @PennySharpemlc to urgently deliver on their election commitment to stop runaway land-clearing and fix our nature laws.
