Why we built @Workpiik
The year was 2000.
A young Lionel Messi was just a little boy when his father, Jorge Messi, took him from Argentina to Europe, determined to find a club willing to give his son a chance.
But it wasn’t easy.
Several clubs had turned Lionel away because of his small stature. They saw a little boy who was too short and questioned whether he could make it at the highest level.
But Jorge refused to give up.
He kept knocking on doors until one final opportunity came.
Barcelona agreed to give the young Messi a trial.
Lionel arrived in Barcelona for a 15-day trial, carrying the hopes of a father who refused to let his son’s size determine his future.
And as Carles Rexach, the Barcelona technical director who was involved in the decision to sign Messi, famously said, Lionel only needed one day. He had 14 days to spare.

But Like a father he proved to be the most important person to determine his child’s future
before he left this world, he gave his son something far greater than anything money could buy: a chance.
Believed in his little boy when so many others didn’t.
Because of that belief, His son went on to become one of the greatest footballers the world has ever seen.
Rest well, Jorge. You knocked on the doors until one finally opened.
And the world will forever be grateful that it did.

I was just a young studio boy trying to figure life out.
During the day, I worked to survive. At night, the studio became my classroom. While everyone slept, I wrote code. Night after night, I stayed awake learning how software works, how technology scales, how the world’s biggest tech companies build products, and most importantly, how they solve real problems.
I wasn’t chasing a title.
I was chasing understanding.
There were days I questioned myself. Days when progress felt invisible. But I kept learning, building, failing, rebuilding, and improving.
Fast forward to 2025/2026.
I launched my first major tech product, WorkPiik.
@Workpiik isn’t just another job platform. It’s built to solve a real problem by connecting skilled professionals with nearby clients, making it easier for people to find work and for clients to find trusted service providers around them.
Looking back, I realize those long nights in that small studio were preparing me for something much bigger.
Every bug I fixed, every tutorial I watched, every project I built was laying the foundation for this moment.
The journey is still just beginning.
There is still so much to build, so many people to impact, and so many problems to solve.
If there’s one lesson I’ve learned, it’s this:
Your current environment does not determine your future. Consistency does.
Keep learning.
Keep building.
Your breakthrough might be closer than you think.

We only want to serve 3% of that market, about 15 million workers, on one platform.
We want to document, connect and empower 15 million African workers on a single platform, making it easier for the world to discover African talent and for Africans to find meaningful work, both locally and globally.
This is the biggest undertaking of my career so far.
It won’t be easy. It won’t happen overnight.
But every great company starts with one decision: to build something that outlives its founders.

This man became a billionaire by predicting and analysing football outcomes.
While millions became poor through gambling,
he built wealth by understanding why football matches end the way they do.
Most people chase outcomes.
He studied the causes behind them and made moves before the game.
This is the story of Tony Bloom,
the man who turned football outcomes into a repeatable edge and became a billionaire out of it.
Tony Bloom grew up in Brighton. As local boy who loved football, but loved numbers even more.
While others watched matches for passion, he watched them for patterns.
He was obsessed with patterns.
Why does a team dominate possession but lose?
Why do some clubs consistently outperform their budget?
Why do bookmakers get certain matches wrong?
So He studied mathematics.
Probability. Risk. Margins.
The hidden logic behind chaos.
After university, Bloom entered the world of betting.
Not as a gambler.
But As an analyst.
Most gamblers look at the scoreboard.
He looked at everything before the scoreboard.

So Bloom built systems to strip emotion out of football.
He focused heavily on Asian handicap markets, where matches are reduced to numbers and margins.

Over time, Bloom built databases that tracked thousands of matches across leagues.
He measured how teams performed relative to expectations, not results.
Expected goals. Shot quality. Defensive structure. Game state behavior.
He did not care who won last week.
He cared whether the performance was sustainable.
This discipline earned him a reputation.
Calm. Calculated. Detached.
This made people to call him “The Lizard.”
Bloom later founded Starlizard, an analytics firm built like a research lab.
Teams of analysts watched matches and fed raw data into models.
Others adjusted probabilities as information changed.

If the market moved irrationally, Starlizard moved the other way.
That is how the money compounded.

In 2009, he bought his boyhood club, Brighton & Hove Albion.

Peter Obi is the only Nigerian politician I truly believe has the vision to move this country forward.

Nigeria’s system doesn’t reward vision.
It resists it.
The political structure we operate today is deeply flawed.
It protects power, not progress.
It benefits those who know how to play the game, not those who want to change it.
And because of that, real transformation becomes a threat.
When a system thrives on inefficiency, transparency becomes dangerous.
When chaos feeds certain interests, order becomes a problem.
So even when a capable leader appears, the system pushes back.
Not because progress is impossible,
but because progress disrupts those who benefit from things staying the same.
Nigeria is not failing by accident.
But it’s also not beyond repair.
The truth is simple:
A great leader matters.
But a broken system can limit even the best intentions.
That’s the real battle.
Let me teach you something that will help you in life.

There are enemies you don’t cast or fight.
I know you may dislike them.
You may even hate what they stand for.
But you don’t fight them.
Why?
Because they are gatekeepers.
And gatekeepers control access. 📌

Access to opportunities.
Access to protection.
Access to global influence.
If you are not on good terms with a gatekeeper,
you don’t move forward. It’s that simple.
Look around your work place at least you will find one Gatekeeper (MUST)
Right now, whether you like it or not, one of those gatekeepers in International politics
is Donald Trump.
If he decides he doesn’t like your country,
You are really in trouble
That is the painful truth.
Life is not just about emotions.
It is about power.
And understanding who holds the keys.
Hate them if you want.
But never ignore who controls the gate.
Putin knows this.
Xi Jinping knows this.
Kim Jong Un knows this.
That is why they are not interfering.

And when you buy it, the company tells you:
“You never actually own it.”
That line should have destroyed them.
Instead, it made them the most respected watchmaker on earth.
Before the world saw Patek Philippe as a symbol of power,
It was just a quiet, family-owned Swiss company,
handcrafting watches for collectors who valued precision more than publicity.
They were not flashy.
They were not everywhere.
They were just excellent.
By 1996, they wanted more than admiration.
They wanted a legacy brand.
Something that would outlive trends.
So they hired a small London agency called Leagas Delaney.
The brief was unusual for a luxury brand:
“We want it to be the most expensive luxury watch in the world.
No celebrities.
No spectacle.
Just meaning.”
The agency began researching how wealthy people make buying decisions.
What they found changed everything.
When rich customers saw ads with movie stars or famous faces,
