SHAME OF A NATION.

In 2006, the EFCC Chairman Nuhu Ribadu, came before the Nigerian Senate and listed 5 most corrupt governors. They include:

1. Orji Kalu, Abia State

2. Ahmed Bola Tinubu, Lagos State

3. Ahmed Sani yerima, Zamfara State

4. George Akume, Benue State

5. Chimaroke Nnamani, Enugu State

Today, in 2026, 20 years after.

Orji Kalu = Senator
Bola Ahmed Tinubu = President
Ahmed Sani Yerima = Senator
George Akume = Senator now Appointed by Tinubu as SGF.

Chimaroke = Senator

The then EFCC Chairman Nuhu Ribadu who made the list but failed to prosecute them, is now appointed by Tinubu to be National Security Adviser.

The Senate is currently headed by another EFCC regular, Senator Godswill Akpabio.

Which Way Nigeria? This can never be a serious nation..

Nigeria’s Public Debt Rises By N9.96trn To N159.35trn In One Year Under Tinubu — DMO Reports

Nigeria’s total public debt stock rose to N159.35 trillion as of March 2026, representing a N9.96 trillion, or 6.67 per cent, increase from N149.39 trillion recorded in March 2025, according to the Debt Management Office (DMO).

In dollar terms, the country’s debt increased by $17.71 billion, or 18.22 per cent, from $97.24 billion to $114.95 billion within the same period.

Between December 2025 and March 2026, total debt increased marginally by N75.51 billion, or 0.05 per cent, from N159.28 trillion to N159.35 trillion. However, its dollar value rose by $3.98 billion, or 3.59 per cent, to $114.95 billion, largely due to exchange-rate changes.

The DMO used an exchange rate of N1,386.2156/$ for its March figures, compared with N1,435.2571/$ in December.

External debt stood at $51.90 billion in March, up slightly by $48.05 million from $51.86 billion in December. In naira terms, however, it fell by N2.48 trillion, or 3.33 per cent, from N74.43 trillion to N71.95 trillion.

Meanwhile, domestic debt rose by N2.55 trillion, or 3.01 per cent, from N84.85 trillion to N87.40 trillion. It increased by N8.64 trillion, or 10.98 per cent, year-on-year, accounting for 54.85 per cent of total debt, compared with 52.72 per cent a year earlier.

The Federal Government remained the dominant domestic borrower, with its debt rising from N80.49 trillion in December 2025 to N82.88 trillion in March 2026. Compared with N74.89 trillion in March 2025, this represents a N7.99 trillion, or 10.67 per cent, increase.

The Federal Government’s domestic debt alone accounted for 52.01 per cent of Nigeria’s total public debt as of March 2026.

I think every student who graduates with a First Class from any Nigerian university should have 100% of their school fees refunded, plus a ₦1 million excellence bonus.

I came across a similar incentive model in the Netherlands, and it made me think.

Imagine the message it would send: Hard work pays. Excellence is rewarded.

Instead of only celebrating academic success with certificates, why not attach real value to it?

It could fundamentally change how many students approach their education.

Lagos Is More Expensive Than LA, Dubai And Miami — Travel Blogger Tom Says After Visiting A Lagos Restaurant

Travel blogger Tom, popularly known as TravelTomTom, has reacted to the prices at what he described as one of the most expensive restaurants in Lagos, comparing its food and drinks to prices in Miami, Dubai and Los Angeles.

Tom said, “If I tell you how much I paid for this smoothie bowl, you’re going to be shocked because I made it to the most expensive restaurant in all of Lagos. I’ll show you the menu in a second, but this was $22, and it’s a bit tiny, to be really honest.”

He then showed the menu and pointed out that pomegranate juice costs ₦25,000, saying, “You know that means 20 US dollars for a juice.”

Reacting to the price, he added, “I guess this is one of the restaurants where embassy people literally come to spend probably your tax money.”

He also highlighted one of the restaurant’s breakfast options, saying, “One of our breakfast prices for 30 dollars, yeah, 39,000.” He then pointed out the price of avocado on toast, saying, “And my favorite avocado on toast, I think we have here as well, is 30 US dollars.”

Tom was particularly shocked by the price, saying, “I think that’s more expensive than in Miami, in Dubai, in LA. No, this is Lagos, Nigeria, guys.”

Describing the restaurant itself, he said, “Yes, it’s a really nice place. It has this kind of Dubai vibe, super luxurious vibe.”

However, he questioned the disparity between the prices and workers’ earnings.

Tom also reviewed the acai bowl, saying, “Well, it’s not bad at all. It’s obviously good, but there’s just a little bit of banana and the granola is just the granola from the supermarket package. It’s nothing special, to be honest. It’s not worth 22 dollars, I’m sorry.”

Somehow, a part of me is almost glad Peter Obi didn’t become president in 2023. Just imagine how many of these shameless opportunists would have slipped into the new Nigeria project and been celebrated as national heroes.

Tinubu’s first and hopefully only term has not been completely useless. If there is one good thing to take from this disaster, it is the clarity it has given us. It has exposed people we once mistook for national heroes and allowed those who might have gone down in history as defenders of democracy to unmask themselves in real time.

Even a terrible government can leave behind something useful. This one is showing Nigerians exactly who is who.

President Tinubu has empty spaces in his primary and secondary school qualifications, while Okpebolo has D7 parallel in his WAEC results.

Both are President and Governor respectively.

These are the same people who sign laws that do not just make it mandatory to credit all your grades, but also make it mandatory to have all your qualifications from primary school before you could get a civil service job, whether federal or state.

So, a young Nigerian applying for a civil service job must account for his qualifications from primary school, present all his certificates and credit all his grades, while the people signing these laws can have empty spaces in theirs or have D7 parallel in their WAEC results and still occupy the highest offices in the land.

How does the system make sense to you?
