@paiges10254913@AKayumAhmed1 I like your point that for those in control, decolonization and the resulting shift in power, is a violent process. Thus, regardless of how violence is wielded or even if it is used in the traditional sense, decolonization is always violent. #P8607
@AKayumAhmed1 If societies are forged and maintained through violence (i.e. the exploitation of those native to that land) as argued by Fanon, then isn’t violence a necessary response to upending those societies? I would agree it is. #P8607
@HollyR00796378@AKayumAhmed1#P8607 I totally agree that art can appeal to peoples’ empathy in ways that data always cannot. It makes me think back to the photo of the 3 y.o. Syrian refugee boy who tragically drowned. This photo generated more public concern than reports of body counts that reached over 100k
@AKayumAhmed1 Art is a powerful medium for expression and engagement. In calling for abortion pill access on the CUIMC campus, we can incorporate visual art into an on-campus demonstration that shows CUIMC leadership why this issue is so important to students. #P8607
@Emmitwo@AKayumAhmed1@Columbia@usnews@nytimes I definitely agree. It will be really interesting to see how the university will react to all the bad press. The harder we push now, the more we can force their hand into meeting the reproductive health needs of it’s student body. #P8607
@AKayumAhmed1@Columbia@usnews@nytimes Columbia’s “prestige” has been damaged by their drop in ranking. We can leverage this moment to demand the university meet its students’ health needs. By convincing them it will help them save face, we can encourage their support for abortion pill access on campus. #P8607
@rs17222079@AKayumAhmed1 I totally agree. It was interesting but unsurprising to see the split between the two schools of thought reflected in our class. Together we can work together to lay the foundational claims to health as a human right and fight for peoples enjoyment of that right. #P8607
@AKayumAhmed1 Protest scholars Natural scholars

All humans possess HR for simply being human
Protest scholars diverge from natural scholars in that they use these claims to redress injustice. Mailman embodies both schools of thought. #P8607
