The CoE-CPPICS was established on 1st January 2021 in the Dept. of EE, IIT Madras with a seed funding of approx. 4.5M USD by the MeitY, Govt. of India.
@iitmadras, through its Centre for Programmable Photonic Integrated Circuits and Systems (CoE-CPPICS), has made a significant stride in Silicon Photonics with the launch of two indigenously developed products by Shri S. Krishnan (@SecretaryMEITY) IAS, Secretary, @GoI_MeitY, Government of India.
FAU Attachment Tool – developed with izmo Microsystems
QRNG Module – now deployed at SETS Chennai & commercialized via LightOnChip Pvt. Ltd.
These innovations mark a significant milestone in India's semiconductor & quantum tech ecosystem. The Centre follows a unique R&D-to-Manufacturing model, powered by partnerships with @SilTerraMy and izmo Microsystems.
