@NorthwesternEng's Jeremy Vollen earned a Distinguished Paper Award @IJCAIconf 2026. The researchers introduced incentive ratios to the design of fair collective decision-making algorithms applied to public decision problems (e.g. participatory budgeting). https://t.co/nZ82NmLCWZ
🌍 UNU Macau at IJCAI 2026: Advancing Equitable AI Through Global Collaboration
Building a truly equitable AI landscape requires a dialogue that bridges research communities worldwide. At the recent @IJCAIconf 2026 conference, our Acting Head of Research, Dr. Georgina Curto, advanced this mission by contributing to key discussions on international collaboration and shaping the global future of AI.
Delivering a keynote on "AI Research with, for, and from the Global South," Dr. Curto presented UNU Macau’s engagement with the ‘IJCAI in the World’ initiative. She highlighted locally driven AI activities across South Africa, Senegal, Rwanda, Uganda, and Nigeria, emphasizing the importance of two-way knowledge exchange and strengthening connections across the broader international AI research community.
The event provided vital opportunities to deepen collaborations with IJCAI and research partners. UNU Macau remains committed to building collaborative bridges that foster a more inclusive and equitable global AI research ecosystem.

🏆 1st place + 2 awards at IJCAI-ECAI 2026.
The Darwin Agent team, jointly developed by Xiaomi, Nanjing University, and Tsinghua University, won the Open Track of the official CAR-bench Challenge, taking home both the Rank Award and Innovation Award.
Powered by TRACE, the team achieved a 70% stable pass rate — 20 percentage points above the official baseline.
The goal: make agents not just capable of completing tasks, but consistently reliable when facing ambiguity, missing capabilities, and real-world constraints.
