"This is an honor to be up here and be up there."
Former @StPaulSaints pitcher @IlaBorders talks about the impact women continue to have on the game and the new art feature at Target Field.
.@IlaBorders became the first woman to pitch in a men's college baseball game on this date in 1994, giving up just five hits in a 12-1 Southern California College win over Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.
She retired the first 10 batters she faced, and took a shutout into the eighth.
Check out this awesome story featuring 1660 Member Ila Borders from Cornelius Fire. Ila has been a trailblazer in the baseball world and continues to share her love of the game with young athletes. @IAFFNewsDesk @IAFF9th@ORfirefighters@IlaBorders#iaff

June 1, 1997: Less than 20 hours after her historic (if ineffective) professional baseball debut, @StPaulSaints pitcher Ila Borders strikes out the side in an inning of relief against the Sioux Falls @Canaries.
Folks, that's what we call a Snapper Mow 'Em Down Inning.
We are proud to premiere our first SHE FLIES Story on #InternationalWomensDay.
@IlaBorders is a trailblazer who thrived playing men's professional baseball. Now a firefighter in Cornelius, Ila is keeping girls in the game and empowering women coaches.
