If your Christianity is only by birth and name, then it is what I call cultural Christianity. It can easily be influenced by the world, like Demas, who later abandoned the faith because he loved the things of this world.

That was when I explained that Christianity is more than being born into a Christian family or bearing a Christian name. It is a personal relationship with God, shown through our character, lifestyle, and commitment to Him.

In my first CRS class, I asked the students, "Why are you Christians?" The reply was, "Because we were born into a Christian family."

I then asked, "If you were born into a Muslim family, would you be Muslims?" They said yes

During my last exam, an auntie close to my mum asked me to help teach in her school. I agreed to teach Maths and Further Maths, and since they didn't have a CRS teacher, I volunteered for that too.

If we do not study the Word, we can easily be misled. But when we know the Scriptures, we develop discernment.
So let us build the habit of studying the Word. Christ is the Word, and the more we know the Word, the more we know Him.

Like the Bereans, we should listen, but also search the Scriptures ourselves to confirm what we are taught.
That should be our attitude as Christians today. Listen to sermons, watch teachings, but always go back to your Bible. Open it, read it, and study it for yourself.

The Bereans in the above Acts 17:11 did not reject teaching, but they did not accept everything blindly either. They listened, and then they searched the Scriptures daily to confirm whether what they were hearing was true.

This is why we must not rely only on what someone says, no matter how convincing they sound. The Bible encourages us to check things for ourselves.

Sometimes people teach things that sound good but do not fully align with the Bible. You may hear someone say that once you are born again, you are forever saved no matter how you live afterwards. Teachings like this can mislead people if they are not grounded in Scripture
