Every time I hear this conversation about substance vs. trends, it feels disrespectful to all of artists who have been making music with substance for years. We’re touring, making money, building catalogs, selling vinyl, tapes, and CDs. A lot of artist get overlooked because we don’t have the right PR, management, or connections. Y’all aren’t digging, looking, or really outside. You’re confusing what’s popular with what’s actually happening in the culture. 🫍

The writing has been on the wall for a minute that Black music, rap, R&B et al was not on major labels priority lists. The latter may be thriving on a communal level, but structurally, those labels are not investing like eras of yesteryear
