I've now also deleted the YT app from my device since I can't even login to watch the videos from the many channels I've subscribed to over the years.. when I try to it redirects to a broken page (never finishes loading) to file an appeal about the channel deletion. I've no intention of filing an appeal, YT can fuck right off now.

You fucking clowns can't even figure out how to get a login page to load and keep viewer accounts separate from channels.. what a shambles YT is these days.. an utter disgrace.

So a sad day for me.. my youtube channel where I was documenting building my little off grid organic farm in the jungle in India over the last few years, was just deleted by youtube, because they are a bunch of cunts.

It was not quite Clarkson's Farm (@JeremyClarkson) of course, but I had plans!

It was a small channel, maybe 30 videos from the last 2 or 3 years... no loss to them.. but they lose not only me as a creator, but me as a consumer/viewer of content and their ads.. I used to watch a lot of YT on my tv but that has ended... and I'm not the only one. I instead consume content on my tv from other platforms now: @Dailymotion @Substack and others, as well as @NetFlix of course. Anything but YT.

This saga started after I began a new project - since I lost my job last year (replaced by AI) and have been unable to find a new job at this age (over 50), I hoped to become a travel vlogger/creator.. nothing fancy, starting with just POV videos filmed by me of my travels, with my new @insta360 camera... and I planned to experiment with different styles/formats over time and see what worked best.

I was about 3 weeks into my intended 3 months of content filming travel and had maybe 4 or 5 long form videos and a few shorts published so far, and many more planned. All original content, no AI generated content.

Then after just a few weeks of posting, they suddenly deleted my channel with no warning and claiming I've broken their rules against spam/scams etc.. which is complete nonsense.

They've refused to provide any evidence of that, no specific details on what I allegedly did wrong (because there is nothing), and refused to reinstate the channel, refused to check again, and now they ignore my messages.

So my planned 3 month trip effectively ended after about 3 weeks... all the time and money invested gone to waste, all my plans crushed. At a time when I am unemployed, with now zero income, this was and is a painful loss.

Deleting that new channel also means I'm no longer allowed to have ANY channel on YT which means when I logged into my old farm channel today (actually to download my vids before they could delete), they immediately deleted that one as well. Luckily I have the originals backed up somewhere for all my channels.

I will not appeal that, because YT is dead to me now and forever. Fuck YouTube.

All my content for all my former YT channels will be published instead on other platforms including here on @X

I have had to rethink everything, make a new plan, build redundancy and platform independence into everything, and assume that the chances of success are now much much lower due to the loss of such a big distribution platform for my travel vlog (and my other channels such as the farm building).

In my opinion, it is now very unwise for small creators to rely on YT.. they can destroy your business, your dreams, in an instant and there's nothing you can do about it. Plan accordingly.

So in summary, again... fuck youtube.

Where is the tv app for X videos @elonmusk ? It is needed.

So a few weeks ago I posted my app there...

I did the usual preparations, made a demo video, and some screenshots from the app, did some browsing and upvoting on ProductHunt every day for a while before, shared the link in a couple of places, and on the day I posted on my X account which has very few followers.. you can probably guess how this went... 😂

By the end of the day, I looked at the ranks and saw there was 688 apps ranked that day, which is a lot more than I expected.

My app finished at #67, which doesn't seem so bad, considering how many others were posted.

But only the top few make the cut... in the end my app got a massive 5 visits from ProductHunt and 0 signups... 🤷‍♂️

Given that ProductHunt is probably not really the right audience for a farming app like https://t.co/T0HpVA9nsp I'm not too concerned about the lack of signups, but a little more traffic would have looked nice on my site stats.

Well, clearly that didn't go so well.. but it was a learning experience.

Maybe next time it will go better.. I have more apps to try with!
