Literally, this is how I feel about my mentor and former boss.

When I left my other job and decided to enroll at ZIALE, I struggled to find a Law firm to get attached to, classes commenced and 4 months later, I still had no attachment.

Legal Aid was the last place on my list, I had interned there during my Uni- School break days, I decided to give it another shot, in desperation. 😒

Without much hesitation, this lady took me under her wing and taught me most of what I know. I followed her around like a sidekick, took her notes in court, asked questions, whenever I had some.

When I cleared the bar, she gave me my first case and introduced me to the courts as a newbie, barely 3 days after my admission to the bar.

Our last criminal case together, she made viva voce submissions both at case to answer and close of defense case. When she sat down she said to me, “that there is true advocacy, something you will rarely see these days as lawyers prefer to write down everything nowadays, do not say you were never taught.” 😂 (That right there, I will never forget) After that case, she got promoted and transferred.

4 years later, I remain grateful, always.

Also, I met her in Livingstone last night, after like a year or so of not seeing her and I couldn’t keep myself from giving her a huge hug. 🤗
