The 4th International Mine Action Conference — "Humanitarian Demining for Urban Recovery: Setting Standards of Excellence for Safe Settlements" — opened in Baku on September 2, co-organized by ANAMA and the UN Office in Azerbaijan.

#Azerbaijan declared humanitarian demining as the 18th National SDG and continues to advocate for the recognition of this issue as a global priority. With 57 countries still affected by landmines, the problem demands stronger international solidarity.

Azerbaijan continues to shoulder the main burden of demining and reconstruction in its liberated territories through its own national resources.

We were honored to welcome federal agencies, the Consular Corps, local officials, NGOs, and community leaders and deeply moved by our musicians, performers, and children’s dance groups who brought the beauty of Azerbaijani culture to the heart of Los Angeles.

April 4 — International Mine Awareness Day 🌍

While the world moves forward, Azerbaijan continues to live under a silent, invisible threat — every single day.

• Around 12 percent of Azerbaijan’s territory contaminated with 1.5 million more landmines by Armenia during 30 year long occupation

• Since 2020 — in peacetime — 400+ civilians have been killed or severely injured

• Landmine contamination obstructs reconstruction and rebuilding projects in Karabakh and Eastern Zangazur regions of Azerbaijan and safe and dignified return of former IDPs

These are not just numbers.

These are lives cut short, families shattered, futures stolen.

Demining is not only a technical process —
It is about justice.
It is about human dignity.
It is about the fundamental right of people to return home safely.

Two sold-out concerts in just three days, across the beautiful cities of Los Angeles and San Diego, marked a memorable celebration of musical excellence.

We were honored to support these performances featuring works by Azerbaijani composers Fikret Amirov and Franghiz Ali-Zadeh, alongside American composers Jake Heggie and Philip Glass.

Outstanding performances by CAMARADA, Ruslan Biryukov, and Amin Mahini captivated audiences, with both concerts concluding in standing ovations.
